Pretty much. He is basically more of a "pop" figure than rapper or producer at this point. The sad thing is that I am pretty sure that he will be able to put together a coalition of hypebeast cacs/asians and religious Black people to actually do some harm. Gary Johnson/Jill Stein got like 5 million votes and Clinton lost Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania by round 40K combined votes. Kanye has way more name recognition than either Johnson or Stein and a major political party essentially backing him.

My knowledge of hip hop is too thin to attempt it and I completed missed a point that XXXplosive brought up which was that Kanye has a white fan-base and hip hop itself has a sizable white fanbase and has had one for atleast 30 years and that fanbase is apparently strong enough to keep Kanye relevant when he's career should be where Jussie Smollett's is right now.

I think we can make an argument that the reaction to Chrisette Michele was a bit harsh but everybody's emotions were high at the time and Tina Campbell/Mary-Mary's handlers completely failed her by letting a woman, who is already known for having a volatile personality run her mouth the way she did and I think the Black church's outright rejection of Tina Campbell's support of Trump is interesting.

Although in the case of the Black church I hope there is some consistancy when it comes to people like Pastor Paula White and gospel singer Vicki Yohe, both of whom are Trump supporters and both of whom have sizable Black congretations/fanbases.
