I believe this statement to be overly simplified. You assume that every black person has the same agenda, and that every black person didn't get what they wanted, or needed for their vote. Just because it is not something exclusively for black folk.White Supremacy is very deceptive. Both Republicans and Democrats support it but differ on plans to achieve it. Because the Conservatives/Republicans are more flagrant, Democrats/Liberals can pretend that they are our allies without ever offering direct support for our issues.
Time and time again, our needs don’t get addressed or met. Why? Because we don’t demand that they do. Trump is equally bad for everyone in the US. He threatens our economy, international relations, “women’s rights”, gays, Latinos, the poor, middle class, and us. That said, other groups have demanded things prior to giving Democrats support and got them. We are the only group that have given Democrats our unyielding support without demanding anything in return.
Hillary lost our support when she held the Democratic race hostage against Obama. That said, we still supported her against Trump. We supported Hillary more that White women did. That said, we let Democrats shape the narrative that it was OUR fault Trump won. No other group is beating themselves up over supporting Biden. We are the only group attacking each other for not supporting Biden. We need to stop bootlicking for white liberals and demand support for our issues before giving our vote.
Hopefully this will force the Democratic Party to respect our vote enough to get candidates that we actually want to support rather than shaming us into supporting the “least evil”.
These threads are pages long with doom and gloom of Trump winning and Supreme Court possibilities. That said, when I ask for worst likely scenarios, non of them directly effect us the most.
Let's take affordable housing for one.
Is every black voter fighting for, or in need of "affordable housing"?
We are not a monolithic group, therefore we aren't all voting for the same reason, though there are commonalities within the African American community that we join a causes for.
People keep bringing up demands before a person is elected. You can demand anything you want, but none of those demands can be achieved without first voting that person, or persons in. Secondly black people do demand things but they may not be black exclusive. The problem is that we do not have or put forth a singular cause like those other groups.
Jews want continued support for Israel.
Latinos that are illegals want amnesty
Gays wanted to be able to marry
Now what is the top of list single things that black folk want collectively?
The biggest problem with getting what you want/need is that a lot of people think the fight/the demand ends once you vote. That would be nice, but there are a lot of people competing to get their interest in the forefront, and if your voice (vocally/monetarily) isn't heard. Then you get left behind or you come last.
