Just bought the WD Hard Drive from Target, how do I re-format it FAT32 to play on PS3

BTW, I just got it and it is not FAT32, so my PS3 is not reading it at all. Is there a way to re-format it so that my PS3 can read it or do I have to find another deal for hard drives? I got it for my co-worker, and I know HE got it so that he can use it on his PS3. No need to get a thumb drive to transfer movies to, just grab the HD and connect it to the PS3 and boom, Bob's your uncle.

i know with my xbox you have to get a software update online while on your xbox to play avi files from hard drive. I assume the same thing applies to ps3. Hope this helps, oh and thanks for the porn

connect to your PC or laptop and right click at the partition and formated to FAT.

Right click on it. Click format and then format it to FAT. I dont know if its FAT32 though.

Im positive there is an easier way to do it and I dont remember how to do it directly through windows.

Think u might have to right click on the drive, click format and select fat32.

However I use partition master to format and partition my drives. U can try that its free.

Which one did you get the 1tb or the 500GB? If its the 1 tb how big is the power supply and is it a standard cable like the ones from cable boxes and stereo equipment? In other words would i be able to move it from room to room by buying a separate $3 plug or would I have to order the plug from WD?

When right clicking, it says File System: NTFS (default) or exFAT [mind you, it does not say FAT32]. Allocation unit size currently says 128 kilobytes, but there are options from 512 bytes to 32768 kilobytes. Below is an option to quick format. Do I use that? How long will it take if I don't?

I got the 1TB. The power supply is 1.5" x 2.25 roughly. The connection to the HD is simple enough. You can find adapters pretty easily for AC plugs.

It says that because your probably using Windows 7 64bit.

Anyway, I recently formatted an external HD for my ps3, I used this program

Once you do that, the internal drive will be de-activated. At least on direct tv DVR's

if you are running win xp you can use swissknife.
if you are running win 7 you need fat32 formatter as listed below.
you will have full access to your whole drive.
I do this to soft mod wii's all the time.
