I'm just trying to add a bit of Mel's perspective.
The chick already had a behind the scenes issue with everyone "dog piling" on her. Then the issue was Flip poking too much fun at her.
Then she said she liked having Marc around his first month.........
Then the drop came and then you can kind of see her become more sensitive at comments coming from Marc and attention/ recognition Marc was receiving. Before Marc, she was the intellectual, the mature one that could also "joke around," she brought a certain "air" to the pod/topics. Her whole "pod" identity was thrown into a tailspin.
So, granted Marc may not be misogynistic in my/ your/ others' eyes. However, a person in her position that is already very sensitive...... I can see how she would feel that way, but I'd try to explain to her how wrong that thinking is.
This is why it's good Mel is gone
If you joke on Mona she's not going to sulk on the sofa and play victim. She's going to fire back.
Mel grew up in a white household so she's not used to doing how we do anyway. She's used to pumpkin pie and green bean casserole.
I think that victimhood shit is part of a rebrand for Mel to have women latch on to her as some sort of women empowerment feminism tip. Like how people followed Rory and the Idiot to get back at Joe somehow.
She always came off like she was better than all of them including Marc. Mona is on there and it's a whole different vibe. I think if they were to replace Flip with Supahead (maybe up there once or twice a month) that would really spice things up.

I mean they only putting him on once a week...writing is on the wall. Next move will be out the door. With that said, if Joe is truly taking a step back and not podding as much, i think he needs someone else up there thats a good talker and can transition discussions like a "host" but is also knowledgeable about hip hop. I'll say this and this would be a shot at Charlamagne...what if they bought Angela Yee up there...
The problem was the people on the pod weren't buying it especially since they knew her industry history ( we the audience will never hear certain stories) and could see her growth or lack thereof.
For example, Flip never respected the whole video vixen added to hip hop shit Mel would try to sell. It also didn't help that he could see or hear her current behavior. Its highly likely that is when there issues probably started. Ironically, i don't take Flip as the type to judge certain behavior super harshly.
Instead of being ashamed of who she was, she should have lived in it. Asking for privacy and acting like you are above certain shit is different.
I also never understood her dislike for Superhead. If your thing is you feel men mistreat women, why are you upset with another woman for exposing men's bad behavior. She may not have been Superhead, but Mel doesn't come off as being far removed. So her excuse of Superhead making vixens look bad is bullshit.
For all we know, there could be some personal beef between those two. Running in the same circles and the fact that Superhead wrote a book to profit off of her time while Melyssa felt she was above it and didn't have her mess in the street. Again, better than Superhead...

Even if she felt a way at the time, id think Mel would feel differently now with all the male gaze talk. I get the impression Mel isn't far removed from the women she looks down on. How she is treated/viewed has nothing to due with how video girls are viewed or someone like Superhead' behavior. An articulate whore is still just that and are common on college campuses. Not necessarily calling her a hoe, but Mel's history in the industry is why she has issues. If you treated women badly, i don't see it being much different for certain men. Mel gives user vibes.
I don't think she was above it ( writing a book) as much as afraid she wouldn't make a living. While I understand, this makes her potentially worse than Superhead. Instead of standing up in any fashion, Mel would rather play victim. I say play victim because she is not willing to hold men truly accountable and the only time she expresses having an issue is when she seemingly can't get her way or her looks don't keep the doors open.
She said what it was. It was her image and the book. Superhead never did anything to her personally.

The same way she was offended at the Honda Accord line. She wants people to have this certain view of her.

No they are viewed in that light because they are video girls in a male dominated industry. This isn't wwe where we are "peaking" around the curtain and having stuff revealed. You are at a video shoot, with a lot of testosterone,, dressed sexy. I mean we had to assume that something was going on. Ive heard Superhead and Brittany Renner speak very well and if I didn't know their history I would I would be very impressed. I think berg said it on one of the clips that superhead and Melyssa would probably get along if the got together and had a talk and aired out their grievances.

It's because of pretty privilege, and people complimenting her vocabulary and she can talk about going to school for forensic science or whatever it is. Think about the dudes she's used to dealing with. A bunch of high school drop out rappers. That shit might impress them. They've gassed her head up.

I don't fully understand what is going on with Rory, so im not going to defend anything. However, the clip just shows him being uncomfortable with being attached to racist shit. Id need more context of whatever Rory did or said to get the internets attention for the day.
As far as Mal, there are a lot of Black people who don't care about the word being used by other groups of people. As ignorant as it is and we've seen on the current pod as well, Black people will also call non Blacks N.... in general. Overtime, I've decreased my own usage of the word and think we all should stop using any variation of it. Im also not entertaining that from anyone who isn't Black. Some regions are ok or accept it from other groups. I don't respect it but it what it is. Im also with Mal that alot of people use slurs in secret.
