Meanwhile, Doubly-Impeached Trump Reportedly Gives Toby Keith, Ricky Skaggs Medals

On Wednesday, January 13, Donald Trump made history becoming the first president to ever be impeached twice. Apparently, Trump celebrated the occasion by doling out the nation’s highest award for the arts, as one does. Per The Hill, while the House of Representatives voted on whether to impeach Trump for his role in inciting the violent attack on the Capitol, Trump was reportedly busy awarding the National Medal of Arts to country singer Toby Keith and blue-grass musician Ricky Skaggs.

Trump, who recently attempted to give Patriot’s coach Bill Belichik the Presidential Medal of Freedom and was soundly rejected, gave out the medals in “a closed press ceremony.” Those with good memories might recall that Keith was one of the few artists who agreed to perform at Trump’s inauguration four years ago.

Skaggs has made his support for the twice impeached president known, saying, “I believe Donald Trump is the right person in the right place, and that it’s prophetic,” in 2016. It’s unclear whether Skaggs saw Trump getting impeached twice coming.

Historically, the National Medal of Arts is awarded to artists “are deserving of special recognition by reason of their outstanding contributions to the excellence, growth, support and availability of the arts in the United States.” Whether receiving that honor from a President who has been impeached twice tarnishes that legacy is a question for the history books.

Who noticed that Today's Impeachment. The charge was Insurrection. That is a federal crime under the 14th amendment
Pelosi did not play with a weak reason/charge. She went for the max. Thats why so many Republicans refused to say yes
Even after he put some of their lives in danger
There is no coming back from this charge

Trump angrily watched impeachment while asking about path forward: Sources

Trump angrily watched impeachment while asking about path forward: Sources

With just a week left in his term, President Donald Trump watched on television as he made history becoming the first president to be impeached twice, sources told ABC News.
© Erin Scott/Reuters A pre-recorded video of President Donald Trump addressing the U.S. Capitol riot is seen playing on a television in the White House briefing room in Washington, Jan. 13, 2021.
Sources close to Trump say he grew "angry" as he watched some Republicans admit his culpability in the violence at the Capitol, following his previous impeachment when Republicans backed him unequivocally and stated there was no wrongdoing on his part whatsoever.

In a video statement issued following the vote, Trump made no mention of impeachment, but did condemn last week's violence in his most forceful words yet. He did not take responsibility for his role in the events, but the video comes as the president's lawyers have advised he could face legal jeopardy for encouraging his supporters to storm the Capitol.
Sources also describe Trump as "anxious" about his life post-White House as he's watched multiple partners sever ties with the Trump Organization and Republican loyalists outright condemn his conduct.

Despite 10 Republicans voting in favor of impeachment and growing calls for his resignation, Trump has insisted to a small group of top aides he has no plans to resign, sources familiar with the conversations told ABC News.

This week, top aides met with Trump to discuss his options going forward. Among those options was what a potential resignation would look like. The president asked questions about the process, but ultimately said such an option was a nonstarter, in part because he doesn't trust that Vice President Mike Pence will grant him a pardon.

He also asked about how a Senate trial would look this time around. As he did during his first impeachment, he raised the idea of testifying himself, which aides dissuaded him from pursuing.

Rudy Giuliani -- who has been a frequent presence in the West Wing -- is expected to take the lead in Trump's defense, sources told ABC News. He'll likely be joined by former Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz, who gave a presentation during the last impeachment trial. Lawyer John Eastman is also expected to join Trump's defense team.
Eastman, whose extremist positions have troubled some members of the president's legal team recently, represented the president in the lawsuit led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that was ultimately denied by the Supreme Court and has previously pushed a racist conspiracy theory about Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

In the beginning I didn't think they would go after these terrorist like they are because they waited so long to to inform the public but, seems like they were on the hunt day one wonder is this why Barr left, did he know what was about to go down and left shit in place to fuck 45 and his cohorts over hard. Best believe there are some Congress members and Senators shaking in there boots cause the deeper they hunt and with no 45 to block or slow the investigation they are fucked. Senator Cruz has been mighty quiet lately and Giuliani and others will be snitching soon to avoid treason charges which do carry the Death Penalty!

I can't lie. I didn't think Barr was doing anything but taking an early holiday, but he probably saw the handwriting on the wall for something like this to happen. I don't think he laid a trap so much as he simply stepped aside so that others would have to handle it. That in and of itself probably did help, though.

I think a lot of these people really got fucked up because they've lived in their own ignorance for so long. They really didn't think that this mob mentality would lead to an actual mob, because they lack that insight. Now people are dead, and at that point, there isn't really anything that you can do if you're accountable.

They made such a big deal Benghazi and four dead Americans. Dug into it for years with no substantial evidence. So it's going to be real hard to say that this isn't a big deal. Not that you even need that metric to measure it, but it demonstrates their hypocrisy.
