Actually he said He will pay more if there is a proper accounting. :lol: Some of my friends are on my case because I am not a big fan of increasing taxes on the rich. Actually I feel that the govt should also be more responsible with its spending too. Raising the taxes on the rich isn't going to fix the problems. Its just going to make some people feel better.

The jackasses in government do not need to raise taxes.

They should closely scrutinize and cut spending.

This is what a company does....

The US has a spending problem not a revenue problem.

The truth is there are no jobs because demand is low...when demand is low there needs to be more spending...

The people don t have money individually but the Government does...

as a result the Government needs to actually spend more to increase demand.

I will explain why:

1. Dude mentions Bush. US over-spending has to do with the US government in general. Not a particular presidency.

2. It is foolish for a government to spend more when it already borrows $1,300,000,000,000. Common Sense says that we spend too much already. The gov is already $15 trillion in debt.

Here is a simple explanation.

Deficit spending increases the debt.

A higher debt increases the interest payments on the debt.

This...in-turn...will:

A. Increase the cost to borrow.

B. Depreciate our currency.

C. Make us unworthy to be the world reserve currency or petro dollar (which will be devastating for US citizens).


More spending will lead us down a horrendous path....

Cut defense in half.

Completely dissolve some federal departments.

Stop providing AID to countries.

Alter social security and medicare.

Cut salaries for federal workers by 15-25% (the states have done this).

His statement implies that we aren't spending enough on education which means that he suggests we increase spending but he didn't suggest were we should cut.He is cool with raising taxes if it goes to education or health care. Is medicare not health care. lol

I hate when people make these blanket statements but have no idea what they are talking about. What the fuck are you going to do with the ten's of thousands of people you lay off based on your plan. Actually if you cut defense spending in half it's probably closer to half a million jobs lost. I guess the magic fairy is going to find those people jobs. You really don't know how the economy works if you feel like cutting government jobs drastically is a way to solve an economic crisis. Your plan would have mexico taking us over in 5 years you numbnut.

Taxes do not need to be raised when the military alone cost us $700,000,000,000.

Before taxes are raised the government needs to:

1. Cut the military
2. Stop providing international AID
3. Stop all covert and overt military action
4. Cut federal workers salaries by at least 15% across the board
5. Alter social security and medicare

Then we can talk about raising taxes....but honestly...we wont have to after making the cuts.

I agree we are spending too much on defense but cutting government spending drastically in a time of economic hardship is a bad idea. The biggest government expense is payroll. When people talk about cutting government spending they lose sight of what is being cut. Jobs.

If you look around the country you do have public sector job growth however all these Republican governors are cutting drastically government jobs which hurts overall job creation. The only reason they are doing this is to get Obama out of office. This is the crash and burn philosophy the republicans are running with and we as the public buy into it by saying yea we need to cut government spending.

Yes government spending is a problem but it is not THE problem. THE problem is the lack of investment by the Private sector. When they say the rich are getting richer how are they getting richer. BY NOT SPENDING. lol They are the ones holding all the money. The huge American companies who are sitting on trillions of dollars not reinvesting it back into America is the problem. Microsoft alone has 60billion in retained earnings and shareholders equity. This is money the American economy will not see. It's not that Microsoft would have to give it up they would just need to invest it in Jobs to stimulate the economy.

So fixing a budget problem is about cutting spending or increasing revenues. Cutting government spending disproportionately hurts average working Americans it increases job loss. We should have been talking about cutting government spending during the Bush administration now it's too late. Drastically cutting government spending will not stimulate the economy. It's a political game that the super-rich are playing with the American people and we are eating that bullshit up.

All Obama is talking about equal taxation. The 1% pays LESS taxes than the rest of America. A CEO at a big corporation pays less in taxes than his secretary. This isn't new. All Obama is doing is being the FIRST President to call for equal taxation. The rich will STILL be rich... they'll just be paying their fair share.

What's wrong with that? Alot of y'all saying it's wrong... I'd like to understand why.
