James Brown - Get On Up Movie

very good movie...totally enjoyed it...I wouldn't say it was 'white washed' but more so 'washed down' w/ a PG-13 rating...@ 1st I was bothered by the disjointed storytelling but after a while I liked his childhood years serving as a centerpiece/balance to the man he was coming into play every now and then...it made sense after a while...I was bothered by chadwick boseman @ 1st and kept looking @ him as "the guy from 42" who looked nothing like james brown but after a while he owns up to the "character"...my only problem was they didn't have him perform 'the payback' so now I'm have to blast the shit and take it out in my neighbors :dunno: real good flick tho

Yeah this is a prime example of me watching a film and not factoring in what people said. I thought this shit was a good ass movie with some good performances. Chadwick is a cold ass actor. I agree with you though.

I love how they paced the movie. Sort of going all over the timeline like that. Never seen a biopic like that. I didn't care for The Help but that director did his thing with this one.

You said it best. Its not "white washed" but it was def. tone down for the PG-13 rating. It doesn't hurt the film but I think it could've been better and more mature. I feel like a James Brown movie should be R rating.
