Is this dress code racist? Could YOU go to this bar?

The Ashford, a new bar in Jersey City, was welcomed with nasty accusations of being racist. Funny considering the owner says they are priding themselves on inclusivity. It all comes down to a sign that was put up for one day on their soft opening. A dress code sign.

The sign let people know the attire was to be upscale business casual. Then came this list of specifics.

A new bar in Jersey City took down its ultra-specific dress code after a number of Yelp users claimed it was racist, according to multiple reports.

The Ashford bar opened in December with a placard out front banning articles of clothing such as low or baggy pants, camouflage and oversized jewelry or chains. The co-owner tells NJ.com it was up for just one day during the bar's soft opening; Kenny Caulfield said it was "a mistake" and not reviewed properly.

Also among the banned items: headphones, work boots, ball caps and sweatpants. The placard prompted a flurry of Yelp reviews, but it was not positive attention.

"My blonde female friend was allowed in with loose sweat pants but for some reason the other guys in our group (who happened to be black and wearing normal pants, or at least we thought they were), were not allowed in," said Yelp user Sam K.

They deserve .A wake up call

When you start to evolve soulfully things like this are very revealing. Most will see incognito racism.

The soulfully awake see fear and warning sign about a path to hell being inside them doors.

And will see a blessing in that list and take heed.. And give thanks

Real God shit....> weak simp faggot coon need to be around cacs simp knee grow shit

My club would have the same dress code..
Went to Detroit for the Lie-ons(all they do is lay on the field) vs. Rams game. Went to a bar/restaurant/club called Floods. Same dress code. Place was bumpin...good food...fine hoes...

If this place was located in Manhatten, I'd just think it's an upscale spot where escorts can link up with rich tricks afterhours. But in Jersey City, this sign basically just says "no ******* allowed".

If you're trying to develop a certain patronage, except for the ban on sunglasses and belts, I have no problem with the list PROVIDED it applied to EVERYONE seeking admittance. :hmm:

To me, it looks like they feel they have to explain upscale business casual attire. I already know what it means so I have no problem with it. If you don't like it, eat somewhere else. Nobody is forcing you to go there. I enjoy a spot that's full of well-dressed adults.

I see nothing racial in the sign. The enforcement is another matter.

If they were catering to a certain crowd could've easily claimed private affair, private party, than targeted a certain demographic when promoting for spot...but they kinda made the spot open to the public with specific guidelines that seem to restrict minorities...this is their fuck up...you can hide your racism better morons...but tuck them good to see cacs lose money

they can't help but be racists.

they could have put, business casual/formal attire only, but they had emphasize they didn't want certain skin colored ppl coming.

This... Yeah there may be some other races the list applies to, but all of that seems like a rap video from the early 2000s... We know full well who they're talking about, even if it's not said directly.

Let them have their honky bar. Their business will fail simply because they are hustle backwards...all money is good money!

There is good money at first in a no knigga crowd..

But the energy is so dead it will eventually fail like you said..

To each his own but I will never understand the language of those who actually feel bad about

Cacs and their insecurities

If I went out with associates after work and was not allowed in a corny ass all cac club...

I kid you not I would wish everyone a goodnight even the fuckin bouncer bruh....

I know how this story goes, easily worked during the non smart phone social media age but now you got people who will call their bluff for Likes and popularity or at best a civil suit. All you gotta do is adhere to the dress code with your best business casual attire straight from a Mens Wearhouse catalog, and see how it unfolds consistently, but keep the camera rolling discreetly.

"Hey put that cell phone away!!!"

Yes its impicitly racist, but niggas gotta dress better in general too

yep.
scroll thru the @joneblaze club threads.
women dong their all to thot it up
dudes not dressed up. more like it's just another day.

I'd get in/go in with no problem.
no problem FOR ME, but I'd point out any and EVERY CAC in violation and be a problem for the club owner/manager.
(REAL owner is prolly always off-site anyway. "Just text me how much I made at the close of business everyday.")
