This was sent to me in an email today. I haven't been able to confirm it but it's pretty interesting.

Don't know whether you heard about this but Denzel Washington and his family visited the troops at Brook Army Medical Center, in San Antonio,Texas (BAMC) the other day. This is where soldiers who have been evacuated from
Germany come to be hospitalized in the United States, especially burn victims. There are some buildings there called Fisher Houses. The Fisher House is a Hotel where soldiers' families can stay, for little or no charge, while their soldier is staying in the Hospital. BAMC has quite a few of these houses on base, but as you can imagine, they are almost filled most of the time.

While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave him a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked how much one of them would cost to build. He took his checkbook out and wrote a check for the full amount right there
on the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear this story and want to get the word out to the American public, because it warmed their hearts to hear it.

That took place a while ago.

But he's more than philanthropic. Him and his wife do things like this all the time. It's just never reported.
 
Wow that's really generous of Mr. Washington. I'm always more than glad to here some good news about a brother.
 
Good for Mr. Washington, but just out of curiosity.

Why are the "better off" expected to give, give, give, but the people of a less desirable income aren't expected to be better role models? I'm only trying to spark a debate, not necessarily a hate thread.

It seems like a double standard to criticize Oprah for donating millions (probably $1,000,000,000+ by the time she dies) to a cause that may not be important to you, but neglects to point out that Mr. Johnson down the street is a successful stock broker that hasn't done anything with his money other than let the interest it accumlates add to his growing account.

he is just doing his giving back to community, may god bless him and his family, this shit should be announced nationally not to flash him but to tell the nation other crackas need to give back as well.

Denzel is a republican, conservative and very much a Bush supporter.

Not in the Uncle Ruckus mold, but a republican none the less.

So is LL. You'd be surprised.

They never report good news or the good shit that people...especially black stars, do. I bet if he checks into a hotel with a white girl the folks would be all over it. Props to him.
 
And how much is the US govt spending in an ILLEGAL WAR in IRAQ?
