i thought ming was flash gordon? The idea of a reboot IMO should be from the original Buck Rogers series where they battled Ming the Merciless, in an intergalactic war. With a war you should easily be able to get in a couple of seasons.
I did like this show but always felt they needed to kick it up a notch. IMO the Buck Rogers in the 25th Century just lacked the intensity to make me want to see the next episode. The show was just too cutesy although I now watch it every week on MeTV.
.
Damn if you ain't right. I'll just delete my mistake and a big thanks.i thought ming was flash gordon?

lol. This very episode was on last night. Nah, they'd never get away with this nowadays. The christian right, evangelicals, and trumpies would go bananas. Even tho every one of their wives and gf feel the same way and every male is afraid that they feel this way.
I only paid attention to this show when Wilma was is spandex. Lawd. The guest eye-candy was usually nice too.
Second season sucked ass because they went for a really schlocky and ridiculous vibe and took Wilma out of the spandex for the most part.
Remember all these space shows were in response to the popularity of Star Wars.
I get your annoyance with it but I don't think Black people or POC, in general, should be complaining about the SJW/diversity push considering the society we've grown up in. I would say that the post-civil rights era has been a transition time for our society. The evolutions and growing pains are awkward and are going to be awkward. The hamhanded/forced push for diversity is born out of a mindset that's used to things being one way.. in fact, all the things that we grew up in and was conditioned in were in fact forced like jim crow laws and societal rules on how women are supposed to act and are treated in very real ways, etc. We all didn't agree to that shit! All of that wasn't natural... it was man-made and consciously designed to function that way for the advantage of white males. So if society is MADE to function one way then the only way to break out of that is to MAKE something happen so that it functions another way.No.
Because in today's Hollyweird:
- Princess Ardala would be a strong, independent, lesbian of color (Black).
- She would have a past sexual history with or be in love with Wilma instead of lusting after Buck.
- She would be the greatest warrior of her people and "Don't need no man" to protect her and has a constant need to show it.
- Kang would be a sniveling, simp of a man who is trying to undermine Ardala. (Instead of an intelligent, loyal, proud and capable advisor he is).
- Buck Rogers would no longer be the hero of the show but more of an after thought. The show would now be a platform for and focusing more on pushing SJW/Diversity/LGBTQ/Feminist messaging.
Sadly, this is the status of modern scifi....![]()
naw...people gave a fuck..they just didn't have the platforms we have today..there was backlashes to shit it just had to wait 3 months to show up in the OP/ED page of the newspaperThey used to do so much shit back in the 70s and 80s on TV, I would say over 75% of what they did could not be done on network TV today.
Racist, Sexist and homophobic material was the norm back then and nobody gave a fuck.
actors and celebsgot hatemail all the time..I'm sure pamela hensley got some hatemail behind that scene.I get your annoyance with it but I don't think Black people or POC, in general, shouldn't be complaining about the SJW/diversity push considering the society we've grown up in. And many times it's not going to be executed the best way and you're not going to satisfy everyone. But then again how many people were happy about the old way things were going?
Buck Rogers was created out of the White Man's Burden trope of promoting white men as the saviors of the world and everything they see and touch. Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, John Carter, Tarzan, etc etc.. All are singular super smart or resourceful white men who are the only ones who can save the town, city, country, planet...hell ANY planet they happen to be on. Some of that is a natural element of whose telling the story...white man makes the story so of course a white man is the hero but there also forced design elements in that NO ONE ELSE is to be allowed access to the same platform. And NO ONE ELSE is to be allowed to shine as brightly as any heroic white man. It's not a coincidence that the shifts you've seen/are seeing have happened in the last 50 years of a society that's hundreds of years old.
So it gets to me to see black people complain about diversity/SJW things...I get the frustration with the hamhandedness of it but naw homie...we NEED this happen.

I can agree with most of what you posted here but I still protest that SJW/LGBTQ/feminist socio-economic politics doesn't need to be forced down the audiences throats at every given opportunity.
- Race swapping beloved, popular or well established characters in favor of checking off boxes is not promoting diversity.
- Nor is changing previously established characters sexuality to represent the LGBTQ community mean progress and acceptance.
Seriously, please tell me how does changing Lando Calrissian from an example of positive Black manhood...

... to a "pansexual" lothario who's willing to fuck anything. (Including androids)...
![]()
... in any way helped make Star Wars more accessible for mass audiences when NO ONE asked for it?
And I know you're an intelligent dude, so I know you've noticed that there's a sharp upswing in presenting more and more Black characters as being LGBTQ....?
When it's primarily White men and White women writing & promoting this shit.
Notice how in the name of promoting diversity/LGBTQ/feminism these shows deliberately focused of making Black men gay, trannies and weak.

"Dave was RIGHT".
I agree.
We absolutely NEED diversity and representation in popular entertainment.
It's HOW they present it to us, is my issue....![]()
In some episodes you can see just a slight outline of cameltoe..I only paid attention to this show when Wilma was is spandex. Lawd.
Yea Charlie's Angels,The Fall Guy,Battle Of The Network Stars, etcThey used to do so much shit back in the 70s and 80s on TV,
