A lot old heads have known for years that Bobby Caldwell is white but didn't think he was when "What you won't do..." broke. Same thing with Boz Scaggs, Tom Jones, The Okaysions (Ima Girl Watcher), The Soul Survivors (Expressway to your Heart), and Teena Marie to name a few. 
This is a well-known story. How they didn't put his picture on the album cover etc etc

When I saw the thread I knew immediately who is talking about and I wasn't disappointed. Yes, Bobby Caldwell fooled us all.
I found out about maybe 15 years ago or so. But yeah Bobby Caldwell is white

seems like I've known this song my whole life but never gave much thought to who sung it. who have never guessed it was a white dude

Yeah I didn't find out Bobby Caldwell was white. Found out around 2000, 2001
