Hippo Monster chases down Boat (terrifying!)

I think there's something funny about that video since hippos don't really swim; they walk on the bottom.

that would explain it. they were in shallow water.

i looked at the other vid of the hippos just chilling in the middle of what i thought was a ocean..but that wouldnt make sense because they cant hold their breath for long...so why the hell would they chill in the middle of deep waters?

FUCK THAT! Driver hit that accelerate at just the right time!

Hippos don't fuck around. Probably the most dangerous animal on the planet, and unless you're packing a Barret 50 cal, you are fucked when a hippo wants to get you.

People don't know that the top 2 killers of people in Africa (besides flies and mosquitos) are Hippos and Cape Buffalos.

Hungry Hungry Hippo was not just a game

Hippos in the ocean? Son, seriously?

Not only are hippos very large and powerful animals, but I read that they are highly territorial, and extremely aggressive against anything, or anyone, who invades their territory.

With a mix like that it is no wonder that hippos kill more people, in Africa, than crocodiles.
I grew up into animals, Animal Planet, nature and such so I knew that hippos were dangerous, but there weren't many videos on how dangerous back in the eighties and early nineties. It wasn't until recently that video of exactly how dangerous and territorial hippos are and how they even attack boats in their area. if you watch youtube videos you will see... Wow such speed as swimmer

RIGHT! I didnt know they were that fast. I would've shit myself if I was there...
yeah, I saw a video where they chased a boat before. the white people were scared as hell and then pretended they weren't once they were out of range.

Wow!! That mofo was HUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!

dude hit the engine on the boat but the hippo was still on their asses.
i knew hippos could swim under water, but i didnt know they could swim that fucking fast,
All that wegiht.....short legs....where is the speed coming from????

time to go research.....

edit:

there more vids on youtube of the same shit...boats moving fast as hell but the hippo still on their asses. Amazing!!!

I have no idea how they generate so much speed and power swimming with such stubby legs, but they do. And damn are they scary

Dudes be working together.... The seal watched his death coming

In the youtube link above, they talked about orcas off the coast of new Zealand hunting white sharks.

they even worse on land

this was addressed earlier...but the hippos werent really "swimming".

After elephants, Nile hippos are the largest land animals, weighing up to eight or nine thousand pounds. Unlike elephants, however, hippos spend their days in the water, which might make it seem silly to ask: Can hippos swim?

Given their size, one might answer “no” because hippos seem too heavy to swim. But that’s wrong. A hippo’s fat makes it buoyant enough to float very well. On the other hand, if you said “no” you are quite right. Hippos do not really swim. Their method of travel is very simple: they walk underwater.

Like many people, hippos enjoy resting in cool water and can let themselves float or sink by controlling their breathing and body position. Once sunk, hippos don’t swim back up to the surface: they walk along the bottom till they reach shallow water. Unlike people, hippos can hold their breath for minutes at a time.

Far from the lumbering giants they seem to be, hippos can trot, jog and run at speeds of up to 15 miles per hour, with spurts as fast as 30 miles per hour. Although poachers hunt hippos and sell their teeth as an alternative to elephant ivory, you still might see one if you’re lucky enough to travel to sub-Saharan Africa. Just don’t get too close: they are more agile than they appear.

Strangely....I cant find much footage of Hippos running under water. Not even with those float cams that they use for the discover channel. I guess they are too dangerous to fuck with.

The weight, breath control along with the Hippo "jumping" ...like a torpedo.... would explain the speed. It more than likely got one good push off something.
