Help! Firefox Won't Start. Says It Is Already Running [Porn Inside]

Yikes. Sounds like something is corrupted troop. Roll back if you can?

If not that, just do a manual wipe.

Go into C: Program Files: Folder
Find the Mozilla/Firefox and just delete the entire directory.

What about my history and bookmarks? Will they be lost? Do I need to uninstall it before I do all that?

^^^I believe you should be able to create a back-up file for your bookmarks.

You history will prob get wiped, but do you really need that?

Just deleted folder reinstalled firefox got the error. Probably should have uninstalled first. Going to uninstall delete and then reinstall and see if I can get something different. Damn this problem is kicking my ass. Spending my vacation battling with my computer. This ain't cool.

When you checked Task Manager, did you check the box that says:

'Show processes from all users'

If a process is still running under another account, sometimes that will result in the behavior that you originally posted.

Damn It! The shit STILL didn't work. WTF is going on here? I'm running Super AntiSpyware now. I don't know if it will help, but it can't hurt. I didn't do anything different yesterday but search for some playlists of CDs I am about to post. My shit cut out on me as it does sometimes and when I tried to restart I got the error so I rebooted and still got the error. I tried all the trouble shooting y'all gave me before I even logged on to ask if y'all could help. I seriously appreciate all the help you have given me, but I still need it. I COULD go back to IE, but I don't want to. I liked firefox but whatever is running behind the scenes is baffling the shit outta me. The only thing I haven't tried is uninstall THEN system restore more than the day I did earlier. I don't have any ideas at all.

Yes. There are no users but me, but I did it anyway. No change. No firefox.exe as there is on my wife's computer.

When you uninstall make sure to clean your registry before reinstalling, that might help.

Another issue I had was not being able to copy and paste anything in firefox and not being able to save downloaded files, to fix that I renamed firefox.exe to thefox.exe (you can change it to anything you like) and that solved the problem.

what are you using to uninstall FF? Do you have YourUninstaller, or any other program that lets you control what apps get started upon turning on your PC?

When you uninstall make sure to clean your registry before reinstalling, that might help.

HOw do I clean my registry?

Step 1 Go to processes by clicking control alt delete

Step 2 terminate the process firefox.exe

Step 3 reboot your computer

Step 4 open firefox

If that doesn't work, reinstall FF

I'll run ccleaner and get back with y'all. My wife is home and is bumping me off of her computer so I gotta go fix mine and stop bullshitting. Thanks to everybody so far.

Tried it. Ran CCleaner on registry and a clean. Reinstalled and...same ole shit. WTF is going on?

Wow, you shit it truly fucked then. I would de-install and roll-back. Run CC clean. Boot up in SAFE MODE, reinstall, and then give it a shot in SAFE MODE.
