Google leaks Chrome-based tablet idea

I had to correct you on this one, Avid>>>>> Final cut. If i'm not wrong, the industry uses avid more. You are a apple evangelist .

Huh?? I dont know what you were trying to "correct" I was pointing out youre not gonna see something like Final Cut (or Avid) running on Chrome in the cloud.

As far as your Avid >>> Final Cut comment. The industry uses Avid more because its been around longer. However, the industry has been moving to Final Cut over the years because its a cheaper solution, offers the same capabilities, can be used on site with a MacBook Pro. From my own experience dealing with folks in this industry (i own a design studio and work with these folks all the time), younger generation of directors and film editors are using Final Cut, and any film that doesnt have a huge hollywood budget is also using Final Cut.

The transition is similar to the music industry with Pro Tools and Logic.

Dude, Apple's not even at 10% anymore. As a matter of fact they are LOSING market share. You talking about doubling their market share but doubling a single digit ain't finna break the PC companies.

Fall back with that nonsense. Even if they had 20% the other folks got 80%.
Men lie, women lie, NUMBERS DON'T.

The person I was debating was using 10%. I just stuck with the number (the actual number as of Jan 2009 is 9.63% and has been hovering around 8 - 9% since then). And youre right NUMBERS DONT LIE, neither does MATH. Think of it like this:

Apple is 1 company and owns nearly 10% of the market on its own (not to mention every PC it sells is over $1000). The remaining 80% is split between multiple companies like Acer, Dell, Toshiba, Sony, HP, Compaq, Lenovo, Gateway, a bunch of No Name brands, etc. etc. Now lets say Apple gains an additional 10%. That will directly effect the companies splitting that remaining 80%. Which also means, someone is gonna lose when Apple gains. And to top it off, if any of these companies are relying on selling cheap ass netbooks for $400 or less, they arent making much of a profit, and any decline in sales is gonna hurt... BAD.

And to go even FURTHER, people who buy Macs arent replacing them every year or so like most often do with PC's. A typical Mac has a 3 - 7 year lifespan. So guess what, 1 switcher means a 3-7 year loss in PC, Windows, and PC Software sales.

Now before I end this, lets get this straight. I'm not comparing OSX to Windows or Macs to PC's. My whole involvement on this thread was to toss a little reality at the Chrome fans (not a diss) and get them to realize Chrome poses no threat to OSX because its not designed to. Its a lightweight solution for people geared toward productivity, collab, and communication apps. You're not gonna be editing movies, recording music, etc. in the fucking cloud.

The main company that needs to worry about Chrome is Microsoft. Because up until now they only had to worry about Apple in the premium market. Now theyre gonna have Google dipping into their netbook and low end PC sales as well.

I rest my case. :hmm:

The problem is these cats hate Apple, so they lump that ENTIRE 80-90% as if it were a single company against Apple.

cuz somebody just mocked tha shit up this week to ride that apple gossipwave.

not really, chrome was going to be on tablet's anyway google themselves is launching chrome on netbooks first.
htc was planning on launching a chrome tablet either the htc halo or another name. just as acer is. those companies were just taking their time. being 1st doesn't mean being best. apple's tablet is incomplete and they are setting up to bank on the fanbase rather than deliver a real tablet then a year later they'll release ipad 2 and rape the fanbase again....but they rushed this out to kill the netbook market and the kindle/ereader market b/c like nook and a few others companies are using android in different media centric devices.
jobs a petty dude.
