i've always wondered why puerto ricans didn't make the transition over into mainstream hip hop,, because they (along with African Americans ofcourse) were very instrumental in the birth of both hip hop & disco,, both genres of music were invented in the bronx

if puerto ricans weren't in such denial about being Black people themselves (or at least having Black roots) they would have no problem celebrating the fact that Black slaves also invented "their" mambo music,, more Black slaves went to the islands, mexico & south america than they did america,, we were just treated more harshly in the U.S.,, that's another story tho
