Former "American Idol" winner Samantha "Just Sam" Diaz is living a bad case of deja vu ... she says she's singing in New York City subways for money.

Just three years removed from winning "Idol" in 2020, Sam says she's back to showing off her pipes in subway stations ... making her living off the cash and coins folks leave in her donation box.

Just Sam is documenting her full circle moment on social media ... posting clips on her Instagram page showing her covering different songs in NYC subway stations.

In a since-deleted caption, Sam says she was embarrassed to be reverting back to subway singing after winning the famous reality singing competition.

According to The Sun, Sam's deleted caption said, "Back in 2021, I was super embarrassed to be going back to the trains. I didn’t want people to know that I legit needed the money. I didn't want people to know that it wasn't optional. I was disappointed in myself for allowing myself to fall so low after winning Idol, but then I had to take it easy on me and remember that I started my journey with Idol at 20 years old."

Sam won "Idol" at the height of the pandemic, during a 2020 season that went remote midseason, and contestants performed while isolated. She beat out runner-up Arthur Gunn to win the show's 18th season.
While Sam's voice still sounds great, it's pretty sad to see her singing for straphangers.

American Idol isn't what it used to be when it was on Fox so I'm not shocked cause out of all of the winners two of them have broke out of that to do bigger things. It's setup for them only to go so far and be replaced.

Kelly is lucky cause I still don't understand how she ended up with a tv show....

Damn.... So close.

You would think she could do something else and make a decent living.

I wonder what's going on.
She probably could, but why would she?

Entertainment careers involve making large amounts of infrequent money. You can make $2,000 off one show and have to wait 2 months for the next one. The closer you are to the stage the more true this becomes.

Making that $2,000 takes hours of practice. She would probably have to hire vocal and/or dance coaches as well.

That's why so many aspiring actors, musicians, and singers don't have regular careers. Instead, they work dead-end jobs where they can take time off or quit to make room for better opportunities.

Character issues? Difficult to work with? Gotta be something personal. Her voice is too nice not to have gigs.
It's more likely that the record company forbid her from playing any gigs that they didn't co-sign first. I've known artists who had solid careers playing live shows, touring, and doing session work. The moment they got signed they fell off the face of the earth.

Fortunately, Just Sam signed her deal at 20 so she should be free and clear of Hollywood records at 25. As long as she can keep making music and keep her name out there, however possible, she will have another chance.

So she should give up because it's hard?!

Singing for spare change at a subway station isn't giving up. It's clinging on to your music career no matter what it takes.

Suppose she's making $300 a week off of tips and a few hundred more off of part-time job. That's enough to keep her alive and in the public eye until the next opportunity comes around.

Maybe we should stop teaching our kids to be stars and brand ambassadors.

Bruh you got muthafuckas playing video games all day, buying million dollar

homes being brand ambassadors, its all about adjusting from the old into the new..

we should stop teaching them they have to go through someone else to make it,

You can get a youtube chanal and have less than 15 thousand loyal subscribers,

and make nice money, off of superchats and cash app...

I know a dude who plays madden football, joins tourneys and makes enough,

to pay his rent and buy food everymonth... dude just put some money down on a hellcat...from

just playing fuckin video games bruh..

If he wouldve listened to peoples advice he wouldnt be

as happy and content as he is now...

Only thing sad is the fact that you're running to post this just because you're the fucking "Paul Revere" of gossip and couldn't give two shits about her situation.... Chatty Patty

Gotta be mental issues. I don't keep up but can anyone name ONE winner in her position? Even some runners up have done really really great
