Ford to borrow 18Billion

This automaker is closing 600 dealerships in the next 3 years and it looks like they will be closing up shop for good if this continues.

600 Dealerships...and 14 US plants....combine that with offering buyouts to get 30,000 workers to leave the company....its almost like they want the company to go under...and I work for the BlueOval!!!

it'sa wrap for ford. if you had paper and you were shorting the stock - it's about to pay dividends.

it they lost 7 billion so far this year at a rate of 2.3 billion a quarter, how long is 18 billion gonna last?

this was basically the purchase price for the ford motor company. damn. wonder what henry ford is thinking.

guess it's karma though. US bombs the shit out of japan. japan builds an economy of cars and electronics that completely undermines those sectors of the Us economy.

i like japanese/chinese bitches anyway so it's all good.

Sounds like they might be going under. The problem with Ford and the other companies was too much reliance on SUV for their profits. An SUV profit is alot higher than a car. When the price of gas jumped SUV sales plummeted.

its thier own fault, putting out huge, shitty gas guzzling cars every damn year, then when the japs like honda and toyota puts out cheaper, faster, more gas friendly vehicles, they come up with this "buy american" campaign like some hurt broad being rejected

hell, the hondas are more american made now then these fords, so fuck those found on road deads

And plus the unions had some play in this too, but it was poor management and shitty cars that finalized it

This is a damn shame. So many families will be affected by this it's not even funny. Everything in the US is going up accept wages. How can a family make it these days? I live here in the bay area and you can't buy a piece of shit house for less then 400K out here. The shit is crazy. The ave. salary in Cali. is 45K.... 45K! How in the hell are you going to take care of your family or pay your $2,200 house note, much less buy a new ride on that? The rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting fucked.

I can't believe there are still so many people that want to see a U.S. Giant like Ford go under. Ford may be a smaller company, but they still have a tremendous effect on the economy. If they were to go under, it wouldn't be a pretty sight. You're talking a chain reaction that would probably effect companies that had no business with Ford.

I think Ford will still pull it out. Everyone was saying the same thing about GM a year ago, now they're about to turn it around full speed.

Man I was at lunch in Dearborn today and saw some Ford workers. This doesn't look good at all for them.

nothing going to happen to ford..the gov wont let that happen..go back in time when dodge/chrysler had money problems..the gov bailed them out and they will do it with ford..the big 3 needs to get out of detroit, one needs to be on the west coast, one on the east coast and one somewhere in the middle.

It's a different time but hopefully they won't let them go under!
You build what people buy and people were buying SUVs. Earlier management gave way too much to the unions and it's coming back to hurt now.
Ya'll need to understand that before any money is made Ford and GM have to sell OVER 1 BILLION dollars worth of goods JUST TO TAKE CARE OF EMPLOYEES! This is due to pension plans and wages. Japanese companies don't carry anywhere near that burden.
The middle class continues to shrink more and more every day!

The problem lies in not building quality vehicles. People like myself are going to buy big SUV's regardless. And you know from daily driving that regardless of what gas prices are, people are going to drive what they want.

Chevy is now on that American REVOLUTION route. But they are doing well by producing vehicles with flex fuel and active fuel management. 15mps is not bad for a 5400 lb truck.

But all in all if American's did things the way the Japanese have done them. They would not be in such a predicament.

Armada's get 13 mpg on average. I see tons of these on the road daily. It's a quality issue with ford.

A little secret here, Toyota and Honda make cars or a significant part of their cars in the United States. Some of those plants are unions too. A lot of people got burned by American Cars and don't want them anymore, period.. I had a familiy member that I begged to go look at a car when they were doing dealer pricing they wouldn't budge..

The only thing is Ford has a deep rooted history in America. I don't see Americans giving up on Ford just yet. And I think the gov't will assist like they've been helping Delta Airlines since 9/11.

It really is a shame though.

Tell Ford to quit making bullshit. My girl works for Toyota and we just got a brand new Camry. Shit is smooth, and 75% made in the US. The big three are just greedy and stupid.

you are incorrect!!!
every plant run by Toyota and Honda and Nissan too are NON-UNION....the UAW has been trying for years to get into them and the workers keep voting no!!

The Problem with Ford and GM is not the Quality of its Product...ITS THE PRODUCT!!!! If you make a product the people want they will come and buy it...just look at Chysler with the 300/Charger/Magnum....damn they made it cool to own/drive a STATION WAGON!!!!

and if ya want to talk about unions....Fords best product the Fusion is made in Mexico at a non-union plant!! And for you NASCAR fans....the only car that will be running next year that will be American made will be ...the Camry!!!

Good news to me. Means soon to be better quality whores at lower prices due to the influx of large numbers of new whores gaining entry into the market. Thus further lowering the price for pussy, lapdances and "special treatment" in the V.I.P.

Ford, where do we start:
Bad products for decades now. Labor Unions squeezing profit margins - Unions would rather the company go under then conceit. They let the Taurus platform go to hell with a bad design THEN let it linger while the Camry/Accord stole the market. Didn't create products specific for foreign markets, rather trying to pawn off American designs. Didn't reinvest in new materials and advanced manufacturing methods and on, and on, and on.

Classic business case in bad management, greedy unions, bad quality, lackluster products, and overborrowing all contributing to the downward spiral of an American Icon.

GM isn't far behind.

My heart goes out to the ten of thousands of low level employees who will lose their jobs which in turn, will put a strain on the American umemployment and welfare system.

GM is trying to bring it around. they now have that 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. And finally they have incorporated 5 speed auto's into most of their cars.

The Pontiac Solstice, the new vette and the new camaro are hoping to booost sales. And let us not forget the redesigned Tahoe.

F.O.R.D. = Fix Or Repair Daily.

If the clowns who run that company would put out a decent product comparable to what the Japanese and Koreans are making they wouldn't have to borrow money.

The solution is so simple. Take a little less profit on each car and put the money into making a better product. Americans would love to buy American. But they're not, and rightfully so, gonna spend their hard earned cash on crap vehicles just because they're made by Ford, or GM. :smh:

first off ford dont own the dealerships, individuals do so how in the hell can ford shut down things they dont own. Second ford has fucked up only producing 10,000 SHELBY COBRAS-this is due to the fact mf want to buy them and store them and bring them back in 20 years and make millions off of them.

for those who dont know but the contract GM and the UAW will be up jan 1, 2007.

Then what?

if those car companies, gm,ford and Chrysler (is having problems now too) go down their taking Detroit and possibly all of Michigan down with them. My exgf (i might post homegrown at a later date) goes to U of M, i used to go up there to visit and its crazy how dependent that whole area is on those car companies.

who supplies this the dealerships with cars

no cars = no dealerships

just look at the devastion of Flint Michigan

if Ford folds, youre going to have 16 Flints around this country

that isnt good

---anyways fords problem isnt the cost of their cars or suv's

its reliability

their Luxury car, the Lincoln doesnt compare to a Lexus(toyota) or Acura(honda).

and the regualr based fords such as the escort, are always in shops

its simply a bad car.

another problem for ford is that they catered to the older elderly crowd

as the Japanese cars look stylish

Ford kept coming out with crap with the exception of the mustang

but the mustang is a coupe

people want stylish family cars(sedans)

man i hope they can recover
