The Department of Justice filed a civil lawsuit Friday against former Trump campaign advisor Roger Stone and his wife, Nydia, accusing the couple of owing the Internal Revenue Service nearly $2 million in unpaid income taxes.
KEY FACTS
- Federal officials allege the Stones underpaid on their taxes between 2007 and 2011, and again in 2018, with their total debt adding up to just under $2 million, including interest and late fees, according to a complaint filed in a Florida federal court Friday.
- The DOJ also accused the family of setting up a company called Drake Ventures that “allowed them to shield their personal income from enforced collection and fund a lavish lifestyle.”
- The suit did not list an attorney for the Stones, and a lawyer who has represented Roger Stone in other matters did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
