My 52" Toshiba studio standard in my master bedroom died …. …. an hour ago ….. got about 10-12 years out of it …. looking to upsize to a 65" one now …… anybody got any recommendations for a good price and quality 4k smart tv ? QLED or another type …. Probably will go with a Samsung. Should I wait for Labor Day? I have a 46" practically unused Studio Standard in my guest bedroom that I can use temporarily if I have to wait till Labor for a real good price .What's best for gaming with the least on screen lag? Refresh rate ?@dasmybikepunk ?

While LG's OLED and Samsung's QLED may sound very similar, there are major differences at the core level. OLED, which stands for “organic light emitting diodes,” is the top choice for most people. ... On the other hand, QLED stands for “Quantum Dot LED,” and can be compared to an LCD TV because it uses a backlight.

QLED vs. OLED TV: Similar names, totally different technologies

it's been awhile since i looked up the technology, but if you're in a room with alot of light.. I think the QLED may be a better choice, OLED panels can reflect a lot of light as mine does (Mine in 2017 model, no idea if the newer panels are better at dealing with this)

but OLED >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> every other screen technology

QLED is Samsung confusing people with marketing games again...QLED is regular LED with quantum technology which covers more of the color spectrum...Vizio and LG (I think they have something similar) both have quantum tech and TCL is coming out with their version soon...at any rate OLED is the best TV tech in terms of picture quality but it has some drawbacks - relatively expensive, risk of burn in so plasma like precautions must be undertaken, not as bright as the brightest LEDs although bright enough for most uses

Hard to recommend something without knowing your budget and viewing habits....goes without saying that Black Friday will have the best prices

Samsung has great input lag but be careful, they did something different with this years QLEDs so some are worse than last year (Q60) and some better (Q70)...read up on the naming scheme and then check rtings review

Samsung renamed their SUHD TVs to QLED just to confuse the fuck out of consumers. The fact that there are plenty of articles explaining the difference between OLED and QLED means that they were successful.

OLED is king when it comes to watching movies. But if you watch a lot of cable news or sports, or play games that have a HUD you WILL get burn in. At a minimum you should buy a warranty such as Best buy's which covers burn in if you go with OLED.

The site rtings.com gives the best analysis of all the TVs on the market.

- If the TV is not in a dark media room, go with QLED. You'll need the NITs (brightness) can punch out and contrast ratio.
- If the TV is in a media room, consider OLED but understand that you'll have to be careful and maintain the panel.
- Sony has the best processors
- Panasonic has the most accurate color reproduction (they work closely with Hollywood studios on calibration and tuning)
- Samsung competes best on features
- LG competes best on panel thickness
- Vizio and TCL compete best on price

Get a LG OLED or Samsung QLED. I would say wait until the fall if you can. Check Amazon, QVC and HSN have specials on TVs all the time. I think Bestbuy will price match tvs if they are cheaper on Amazon sometimes.

Tcl 6 series 65" great bang for the buck
Especially for gaming
This...just grab a tlc. They punch way above their weight class to where you’re going to have to really think twice about going with Sony or Samsung.

Oled is nice but just not worth the coin at this point.

Best deal I ever got was when I went to Costco and was looking around when this young Asian engineer came in and just picked up a box with a 65” Samsung OLED. I asked him if he had done the research and he said he’d been looking at this model to go on sale for a year. I followed his lead.

Love Panasonic but it's no longer on sale in the US

TCL (6 series) is very good and keep an eye out for the new Hisenses as well....plus check out the new Vizio M quantum (doesnt get as bright for HDR) but make sure you get the right one (check out cnet m series 2019 review)...none of these TVs are as well made as they used to be but I would be especially cautious with the Chinese TVs (Toshiba, Sharp and Phillips in the USA are all Chinese brands using those names under contract) and Vizio....buy the warranty

I have a 75 inch Samsung oh, I couldn't go back to any TV that's smaller, and I had a 55" before.

What's fucked up is, two weeks after I got the 75 inch I got a $5000 settlement from accident two years before when some seventeen-year-old ran into the back of my car and totaled it.

The 82" was like $300 more. If I would have waited...

I had a 55, went to 58, then to 65. I'd be damn if I go to 75 inches. The 58 is so damn bright in our master bedroom that is hard to sleep. I should have left the 55 in there.

tv's are so cheap just throw that old one out on the curb and go drop down on a brand new one....
it's a good tv that I got my use out of with no problems till this ... but that's what I was gonna do .... better to upgrade to one that's got the newest features and is a little bigger .... looking to spend about $2k or a little less .... spent over $4k on a 52" plasma back in 2003 when I brought my house .... can't see wasting that much again on a tv .... :dunno:
