I know little about the guy but I just ass-u-med he would be a big ole' coon, just based on his band, his fans and his music style of choice, but I'm the guy eating a crow sammidge now! Now the other Black coons endorsing trump and clowning BLM should feel ashamed enuff to put a gun barrel in their mouths.

It says a lot about him. Being immersed in that culture up to his eyeballs, having made it to the top of that genre, and still being real about the plight of his brethren. I respect that, cause it could mess with his money.

I never saw him as a odd dude.
I really don't know the guy, only who he is, but it's rare that a Black guy who makes his stacks off of a predominantly cac fan base would openly support the Black side of a racially polarizing issue. I salute the dude, but I still think that family portrait would look better in the fireplace rather than over it.

Good for him. As has been noted, it takes a certain amount of courage when you know it's going to affect your money. But, really, how much? His heyday is long past. He's getting paid for basically oldie shows. Anyway, it ain't my money so, whatever.

As for his wife, it's long been my contention that you can't choose where your heart goes. That's just the way it is. Being Afro-centric and married to a white person are not mutually exclusive.

Why the "shock"?

I've hear that he's a stand up guy that's down to earth from multiple people who know him personally

Not really

Its plenty of rappers with a mostly white fan base that are socially conscious and use their platform beyond touring concerning issues of the socially disadvantaged.

Not to be that guy, but quietly, his wife look good as a catfish and spaghetti plate with a side of coleslaw.

Now back to praising that brotha.

just doing what he's supposed to do...
He made some loot with Hootie so maybe there's little to no financial risk.

I hate to be this dude, but he knows two of those three young'ins might not always pass, so he'd like to see a change for their sake. Still respect him for it tho. :)

Happened?
Sometimes I wonder if it'll ever end
You get so mad at me when I go out with my friends
Sometimes you're crazy and you wonder why
I'm such a baby yeah, the dolphins make me cry
Well there's nothing I can do
I only wanna be with you
You can call me your fool
I only wanna be with you
Yeah, I'm tangled up in blue
I only wanna be with you
I only wanna be with you
I only wanna be with you
I only wanna be with you

I have someone in my improv group that rides harder and more unapologetically for black lives then most white people. She's married to a brother, and I've met her kids (22 & 19), and they consider themselves black, and she defends their choice. She told us a story about checking some white lady, that thought she had a sister in arms, when discussing Black Lives Matter.

Dude, still charting. The Hey mama rock me like a wagon wheel shit is doing big numbers. Don't fall for the okey doke. Heard dude was cool, haven't met him personally but he lives in the Hamptons now, even though he's South Click/Gamecock Alumni.

I remember a few years back when old country road or old town road whatever that country hip hop song was and the controversy of race in country music and in the comments of a newspaper those rednecks kept trying to make a point of how country music isn't racist by naming the only 3 black guys in it and one of them was STILL Charlie Pride!!!! :roflmao::roflmao:

it was like "COUNTRY MUSIC ISN'T RACIST...THERE'S DARIUS RUCKER...CHARLIE PRIDE AND THAT BLACK COWBOY RAPPIN GUY!!":roflmao:

Don't take this wrong..I want Charlie Pride to live a long healthy life... God Bless him and more power to him...but when he does finally close his eyes...a full THIRD of the black representation in country music goes with him...that's not Not Quite Right...that's just FUCKED UP!:giggle::smh::giggle::smh:

Okay, well wherever his music is played is a source I don't listen to. I only knew Hootie & the Blowfish from commercials and when I'm shopping every fucking store plays it.

Has nothing do with narrow mindedness, in fact what I said supports quite the opposite. Why do you think I spelled it the way I did "ass-u-med" and opened the dialog with the OPENING phrase "I know little about the guy " You just felt like being dramatic? Cause I have no idea what you're complaining about. I started my little diatribe with an admission of my thoughts being misguided having limited knowledge and finished by admitting he surprised me and made me eat crow... WTF do you want man? Flowers? Don't know what it is but I would suggest some deeper reading comprehension, and a stiffer trigger button.

Darius Rucker and Wife Beth Leonard Split After 20 Years of Marriage

Darius Rucker and his wife, Beth Leonard, are going their separate ways after 20 years of marriage. The country singer and Leonard announced that they have decided to "consciously uncouple" in a joint statement released on Rucker's Instagram on Saturday.

"Beth and I would like to share that after much reflection we have made the decision to consciously uncouple," the statement begins. "We remain close friends and parenting partners and continue to be each other’s biggest cheerleaders."

"Our priority will always be our beautiful family. We have so much love in our hearts for each other and will continue to encourage growth and expansion in one other. Please be kind as we take on this journey, and we thank you for your love and support always. — Darius & Beth Rucker," the statement concludes.

Rucker and Leonard met in 1998 when she was working for VH1 and Rucker was touring with Hootie & the Blowfish. The two got married in 2000. They are parents to 19-year-old daughter Daniella and 15-year-old son Jack. The country superstar is also father to 25-year-old daughter Carolyn, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Ann Phillips.

In an interview with Life of Dad in 2015, Rucker shared that he would want his children to not get into the music biz.

“If they were to ask me what I wanted them to do singing would be the last thing I would want them to do. Go be an engineer. Go be a doctor. Go get a real job. Get a family and live a great life," he expressed.

The news comes a day after Armie Hammer and his wife, Elizabeth Chambers, also announced that they had decided to part ways after 10 years of marriage. Other celebrity couples who have recently split include Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock, Kasey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly, and Jordana Brewster and Andrew Form, among others.
