Honesty I don't care what it says to them. Fact is more and more Americans are becoming independents for whatever reason.
I'm registered as an independent. If nothing else, I'm less likely to be targeted when the GOP starts purging rolls.

The difference between the Tea party and progressives is there are way more Tea Party people.
Trump still has 34% approval. That's all Tea Party. There aren't enough white progressives to get progressive numbers that high. That's why Bernie lost the primary. That's why his candidates keep losing.

Bernie lost because he had an inability to get large numbers of black people to vote for him. That and the DNC did not want him to win.
In 2014, the Democrats embarrassed themselves by trying to be conservative lite. They lost because if people are going to vote for a conservative, why not just vote Republican?
America is more progressive than it realizes. A perfect example of that is Kentucky connect aka Obamacare. People in Kentucky love that shit, they just don't like Obama's name being associated with it. Mitch McConnell himself tried to avoid that subject like the plague in 2014 because he knew how much they liked it.
A person can be progressive and likeable to the majority of voters if the presentation is done correctly.
