A public school clerk in Connecticut was fired Saturday after video of her using racial slurs circulated on social media. Corinne Terrone of New Haven worked in the central office of the Hamden school district, officials said. On Friday night, a video of her using the N-word three times and spitting during an encounter with a black man and a black woman in a grocery store was posted to a Facebook account and shared thousands of times, according to the Greenwich Time. “We have become aware of video footage that appears to show an employee in our district engaged in abhorrent conduct,” the school district said in a statement. “It also appears that the employee’s children witnessed her conduct. Because her children were present, school administrators filed a [child services] report.” The newspaper said it could not reach Terrone for comment, although her shocked next-door neighbor said, “She’s always been the sweetest woman in the world.”
