Remi Cordova was 14 when he allegedly fired 20 fatal rounds at Pam Cabriales, who is believed to have hit his car by accident while driving home

A Colorado teenager who allegedly shot a woman in the head with an AR-15 three years ago made his first court appearance on Friday since a judge ruled that he’d be tried as an adult, according to local news reports.

Remi Cordova, now 17, is facing a first-
degree murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of Pam Cabriales.

Cordova allegedly shot her up to 20 times on the night of February 20, 2021, while she was en route home from dinner. While driving, she accidentally hit the back of a car Cordova was in with her car, prompting him to exit the vehicle, local NBC affiliate KUSA reported.

What happened to speedy justice? Did they wait three years because it's easier to defend charging a 17-year-old as an adult?

For the record... The gun is the gun, is the gun. I have no real issue with folks owning assault rifles. I dont get the fascination with them, but it's not for me to get. What I notice though is like pitbulls Chargers/Challengers... They tend to find their way into the hands of some of the worst types of owners. Shot someone... In the head... 20 fuckin times???... For a car accident??? Even if she got out talking cash shit... Its a fuckin chick!!! Fuck you need a gun for period, let alone that big ass shit??? Ole puss ass dudes man... :smh:

I agree with everything you said except "having an issue with people having those guns."

They need to be banned (AR-15's) from the general public

You have no issue with a 14 year old owning an AR-15? :hmm:

Impulsive behavior types are gonna act impulsively regardless of weapon of choice. But I agree that the gun gives some people a false sense of bravado.

I posted a few instances here in a major city (Atlanta) where we saw an increase in shootings by crossbow.

High lethality
NO SOUND
no forensics to trace

Take guns away and people will return to the sword, bow and arrow, knife, or that good old fashioned hammer.

Agreed, poor woman... she would have survived if only she was shot 10 times in the head by a 45 or a Mossberg :hmm:

Bows and arrows will never be able to mow down the amount of people AR's can.

And I disagree, MOST people "won't find another way" because they are too lazy to do so.

People were angry, frustrated, driven enough to kill in the past too, they just didn't do it (as much) because they didn't have the easy and available means we have today.

They shook their angry fists at the skies, let out a screech and moved into the desert away from their problems.

Hmmmm. Good debate.

So, same scenario. Impulsive 14 year old's car gets hit from behind. There are no guns in the world.

You don't think this particular kid will be carrying a knife, etc for "protection" and wouldn't use it offensively? Especially against a woman he assumes he can overpower?

I think he would have the highest level weapon he had access to. If there were no guns it would be a knife/sword, brass knuckles etc and his impulsive mind would tell him it's ok to use whatever weapon offensively.

you noticed that too…lol

And none of those things kills as efficiently as a gun.

Countries that ban guns don't deal with mass arrow attacks every month nor have school children slaughtered with hammers on a frequent basis.

I'm speaking on the prevailing topic of assault rifle ownership. Not this particular case. I thought it was assumed minors weren't suppose to own guns, fed laws and all... So I didnt feel the need to address that obvious point.

Frequency? That wasn't my argument. Obviously a gun kills more efficiently than a knife or crossbow.

A person with the intent to kill will kill. Weapon of choice is not the (full) issue.

Etc.

We had knives and cars in the 50's and 60's and 70's too. Do you have evidence of mass killings with those two items back then?

I think the "they'll use something else" is a cop-out.

They'll never be ZERO murders ever by various weapons by any means - but ANYTHING is better than what we have now in America. Mass shooting daily. Our only enemy is ourselves.

The problem with banning guns is the fact that it will only affect law abiding citizens who are not the problem to begin with and use guns responsibly.

The criminals will always find a way to get their hands on guns whether they are banned or not.

Just like heroin and fentanyl are banned and against the law but we still have an opioid epidemic.

For the most part, I don’t have issues with rifles.

I just despise the idea that no background checks should be needed to purchase guns. Like that dummy senator or rep from Oklahoma who wants to do away with all restrictions and need for background checks and licenses to have guns.

Japan only had 853 murders in 2022, that's the equivalent 2500 people in America.

That's "only" 3 weeks worth of gun deaths in this country.

The weapon of choice for people intent on killing is most definitely the biggest issue.

“Face up to 40 years in prison”

That’s not enough. Life with no parole should be the mandatory sentence.

A life for a life. Justice system fucked up.
I am a little surprised by this. I read the guy that drove him away has been sentenced for 35 years. You would think the shooter would get at least 50 to 60.

Guns were available in the 50s and beyond.

People are gonna use the latest technology they have access to, to kill. When the latest tech was a slingshot they used that.

The genie is out the bottle as far as guns in the hands of the citizenry. I don't see any legislation that can preempt the Constitution and I'm not only speaking of the 2nd amendment. It would potentially violate the Contract clause and Interstate Commerce Clause as well.

What works in other countries may not work here because we have a citizenry and society established and maintained almost exclusively by the power of the gun.

You are arguing numbers, I'm speaking of mentality.
