A cracker has no business in criticizing an African American culture, fuck Ted Turner and fuck Paula Zahn.

I didn't watch it but I think poison. It started out as an art. The pioneers did not do this for the money. Not its just garbage.

You call that bullshit African American culture?

Dont insult us like that.

Rap has not been "African American" since it left it's roots wayyyyyy before Tupac's death.

Once it became about the money....it was all over.

It's not African American culture.

It is consumerist/degenerative American culture.

Hip hop was great until 94, flat out.

You had xclan, krs one, geto boys, 2 live crew, snoop, nwa, latifa, etc.

It died in 94.

How many of us learned african pride through hip hop??

I know I did.

I also learned from scarface. Real game, not stupid bling what I got shit.

Money and the power is a classic.

Never seen a man cry.

Dam it feels good to be a gansta.

This is shit we miss now, it is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All this new shit is rehashed and nothing but stupid shit.

You learn nothing from the music now so it is DEAD..................................

but you got access to a time machine, pop in shit from 86-94 and HIP HOP is alive again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm inclined to agree with you. But we know that it is heavily influenced by AA's. Though I do believe that Hip Hop is garbage nowadays. The underlying message is a indirect shot toward African Americans. I doubt they will actually question why these white owners of labels allow the so called poison to be put out. Especially since everybody is trying to be Hip-Hopish nowadays. All their white children are hip-hopped up.

There are a grip of hiphop artist out there that are spitting out intelligent or atleast meaningful shit but those aren't the ones getting played, the real question is "why is only the garbage rap getting consumed by america"

"go to the radio station and murder the DJ" - Nas , Hip Hop Is Dead

For me, Hip Hop is art...purely art. I don't know what type of hip hop yall listenin' to, but the cats i bump are all great artists. Mos Def, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Lupe Fiasco, Little Brother, Jean Grae, Common, Nas, Hi-Tek etc.

They go after the artist, but not the companies and producers that made the decision to publish that shit, again just putting all the problems with the country with a black face, and not the white/jew/gay one pulling the damn strings :smh:

If you dont like it, dont watch it, so damn simple, but people want shit to complain about and feel important

Corporate America is hardly responsible for this story. As long as poison sells more than art, Corporate America will back poison.

Hip hop is far from dead.

Mainstream 'hip hop' represents the worst of the culture.

Its like white trash to white people.

If the media ONLY focused on white trash smoking crystal meth up in their trailer parks, you would think ALL white people are like that.

So when the media and radio only plays the ignorant thug rap, everyone assumes that thats all there is to it. But thats far from the truth.

listen to the UNDERGROUND shit and theres no way you can say hip hop is dead or dentrimental to society.

Why dont the media shine some light on the underground element of hip hop? Expose people to the real side of the art instead of that watered down mainstream b.s. Hip hop is more than young jeezy, nas and jay-z.

More like 96-97.
In 94 Outkast, WuTang, Nas and Biggie debuted (just off the top).
Now way 94 is the cut-off.

the reason i say its far from dead is because i DONT listen to the radio!

mainstream hip hop is just a tiny asteriod in the hip hop universe.

stream some www.beatbasement.com, they play that real boom bap shit.

its tons of podcast, college radio stations, etc playing good indie hip hop.

and if youre in chi-town check out the 88.5 WHPK.

its some hot underground music thats out there. dont be fooled into thinking that hip hop is dead because the radio is wack.

Fuck HIP HOP!

That is a wasted show and this is a wasted thread.

They need to make a show on how they boycotted P.E.
and marketed the hell out of N.W.A. which is around
the time the shit started to crumble.

Jews did that shit.

Jews own hip hop now...they just employ niggas as
workers.

Work for hire Bullshit artists. :smh:

Bingo. It like when folks said Rock was dead, just there were very few commercially viable bands on MTV. Indie rockers were makin a killin.
I have have to say, I never run out of new hip-hop to listen to.
Shit...I just got up on the Procussionists. :D

But radio-trained listeners don't have have the same drive that some of us have to find that dope shit.

Who here is bitchin about hip-hop being dead, has heard the new CL Smooth album? Or the the Kidz In the Hall? Or Mr. Lif's Mo Mega (plus the Perceptionist's joint)? Or the Roots' Game Theory? Not to mention all the shit Lupe put out in the last year.

Turn off your TV.

They made good points.

Im glad chuck D is on the panel.

Only one person better would be KRS

None of these new school muthafux would be able to REP for HIP HOP
in an intelligent manner plus know the history and the breakdown of
what the fuck is going on on a social level.
