I wanted to start a thread to see just how often a phenomena this is. I recently met my wife’s Aunt who married into the family and she’s a black woman but looks as white as anything. We were sitting there chatting and she’s talking about upward mobility in her job, and the line that got me was, “yaw know how hard it is for us as black women anyways...” and I stopped with that look on my face.
She noticed and immediately started breaking it down. “Yes dear, I am a black woman. Don’t be confused haha. Let me show you.”
She then breaks out photos of her and her family growing up and her momma and siblings look as black as anything but she’s the only one that looks white white. I thought maybe she was adopted of her momma had a more than friendlier time with the milk man and ain’t tell nobody but nope, they all looked the same in the face, she was just white.
If I saw this woman outside that first meeting on the street somewhere, I would’ve never know she was black.
This is the first time in my life I’ve ever come across this, only having heard of it growing up, so it got me to digging further and seeing how often this happens.
Have yaw ever experienced this or seen it firsthand?
The only two I’ve ever known to be black that are white are:
Ryan Giggs - Retired Footballer
Cameron Boyce - RIP - Actor
Thats about it.
How about yaw?
What experiences have yaw had when it comes to this?
I’m guessing that 50 years from now, it’s gonna be even more prominent with all the mixing me generational disconnect.
