Black Fathers: At what age did your son get his first shape up/edge up/line up?

My only son is almost 3 and I'm wondering if it's time to give him his first shape up. I've been reluctant to do so out of fear of doing it prematurely and permanently messing his hairline up. Also, just cutting his hair is still a huge ordeal. When did your son get his first shape up?

Wait as long as you can

Trust

Keep the hair clean neat

Braid it if you can

I use Shea moisture and mixed chicks products a little jojoba oil.

If you MUST cut the hair so soon?

I'd actually go to where the mom goes if she got a good spot just to lower it, and do the sides. Low and tight. But if you trust your barber cool.

If it's me?

Do not touch the hairline at all.

Mine was around that age. Don't have the barber line him up just cut his hair.

If I had to comb his hair it would have been cut since he was 3. My son is 5 and we have never cut his hair. His mother washes, combs and braids his hair. So I don't see a need to have to cut my sons hair. Especially at $30 a cut in some places.

Father figure

:smh: @ the thought of you imprinting your moist ways on someones child. I bet your bitch ass be congratulating mothers on fathers day.

Got my son a burst fade a week ago he's 8. He kinda got that Rick Fox (not long) hair.

Coulda waited another year or two, but he love the compliments cause he look like money now!!

25+ expected tip

You must be that someone's child with the way you're sucking your teeth and behaving right now.

3 because my son loves playing in the back yard kept getting dirty and sand in his hair. Much easier to manage.

My son's didn't go to the barber until kindergarten. Even then, it was just for a tape.
