The imagery of lynching in popular culture is always of a few rogue White men going to a Black household on the outskirts of town and pulling a Black man from his household....the reality of the whole town coming out to celebrate the lynching is never shown in movies, etc...no surprise as to why

This means he not only heard about some terrible things but also more than likely experienced them too. I remember the year my granddad died he had been sick, everytime we saw him he would tell us about how bad whites were when he was a kid/young man. He said a white man could come up to a group of black man and slap everyone of them and more than likely they wouldn’t do anything. He said they knew if they did the police would be looking for them that night
