Better Than an Amazon Firestick? H96 Pro S912 Review

The first 10 youtube comments did it for me. Until 3 people here have it and 2 I have to respeck about tech, I'll continue to rock the firestick

This is basically an Android box just in different design. Specs look good. Only down side, no remote.

Get an Android box. Much, much better. These sticks ain't shit. Firesticks are a thing of the past

The new version has more ram and runs very smoothly. Android boxes are a mixed bag based on the OS and skin used by whichever manufacturer. Ive owned 3 different (android boxes) ones and now I'd never vouch for them.

I've had two Beelinks, still own a GT1 & never had a problem with them. I currently own a Minix Neo U9-H & it's my main device for movie. I also got a Nvidia Shield. No issue at all with none listed..

The Nvidia shield is the standout and I wouldn't consider it a simple android box. While I've owned 2 Minix and both of them had audio output issues.

Ive heard alot of good things about this raspberry pi...is that the software or a hardware device?

Yea its dope. Rasperry Pi is the actual hardware. It's basically a small micro-computer/circuit board. It has HDMI, four USB ports, ethernet, wifi, bluetooth etc. On the Pi I have a SD card running Kodi and use have the Rapier Skin.
Then I have a 5TB hard drive connected with all my movies and tv shows etc on it. It's so fucking dope. That way I dont even need an internet connection (as many people stream movies, but I download all my shit).

This way I have entire seasons of ALL my favourite TV shows and currently about 1,600 films if I remember correctly, all ready to go wherever I'm at. Especially as I travel a lot, it's invaluable.

Have you tried to setup a http server so you can stream your films/music any that has internet?

Yea I actually just use mine as a library player running from my hard drive. I've found that to be the most stable and reliable way of doing things. Though for security reasons I avoid using any systems that can access my home network like that (I've got no problem with it in principle, again it's just security related).

And with the Rapier skin, which I've further customised and personalised, its so easy to use. I even set up a few boxes for friends and family too lol

This is the rasberry pi but itself

Here is the raspberry with a starter kit.

Yea I use that same case too on one of my boxes lol I basically have the same kit, though I got the parts separately, rather than as a whole pack. All in all its such a cool self contained media centre.

I searched Android box on Amazon and a bunch of shit came up. What specific box are you talking about?

Beelinks GT1 is a great box for the price. If you want a little more options, try a Minix Box. Make sure you get a A2 remote as well if you get a Minix box. The A3 remote is more & it only adds voice search. Get the A2 Lite.

I run my media center through an old computer I built back in '07. I'm using Linux mint to do what you're doing with the pi.

My server is fairly secure. You don't have to use port 80 to set up your server. Port 80 is the most common port used for http servers. You can use some other backdoor port that only you know about and you can grab a dummy dns from noip.com. From there, you can use various software to stream. You can even stream from your browser.

You'll have your wpa2 security from your router and your firewall from your pi that is only open to whatever port you configure to open.

I two have two pi 2s. I don't use them much anymore. I bought this Arduino start up kit from Amazon so I could learn how to program various components. Here is the link if you're interested. It's more tinkering than anything, but it can lead to some good ideas.

You have 1600 movies? :hypnotised:

All these Android boxes got the same 2 processors in them. Amlogic 905 or the 912. With that being said most of them perform the same. Some have more storage and ram and better cooling. If you want just kodi get one of the $50.00 boxes and run libreelec on it. It runs better than the android os with less overhead. Nvidia shield is the king though. That Tegra processor has so much power they are still tapping into.
