Best Wireless Router?

Am trying to buy a router and need some advice. I've been on newegg reading some reviews and thought of buying something relatively cheap, but I want something that's going to work smoothly without too many hassles. I'm leaning towards a Lynksis

i dont fukk with linksys they are always hit or miss on the models but netgear has done good for me for a couple years couple of models

If you wanna stream videos from that external drive connected to the wireless router to your tv with the computer off

Via your smart tv or ps3,wd tv,apple tv, whatever
 
i've only purchased one wireless router in my life....and its
the motorola model wr850p never had a problem! Wireless router is overrated doesnt really do much it just projects your wired signal within your home why do you need some industrial strength router?

Had this one. Worked good for about a year then later on started giving me problems with my airport express and AirPlay. Bought the Asus Dark Knight n66 and haven't looked at another router since.
 
Damn, I just ordered this. I should have waited for BGOL reviews lol.

It was good five years ago. If you are going to go N, you need to get a router with both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. It's a great router, and it's served me well but it's time to let it go.

When I replace it, I'm going with the ASUS Black Diamond Dual-Band (RT-N56U) or the ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Both have good throughput and distance, along with multiple USB ports that aren't as limited as the 655 was.

This shit died after a few days. Wtf.

Ok, what is the consensus? What is the best one out there?

agree...2.4gHz is a bit crowded. Plus good dual band routers prioritize data based on bandwith draw. Email and basic webs surfing reside on 2.4gHz while streaming and gaming are mostly on the more stable 5 gHz.
 
for all the hype about the 5ghz range i have yet to use it

i have 3 laptops, 3 cell phones, wdtv and a touchpad on 2.4 with
no slow down. it reaches the roadside and backyard.

Contrary to belief, 5ghz is for speed, not distance. 5ghz becomes essential if you are in a area where there's several networks already. with 2.4ghz the only channels that don't overlap is 1, 6 and 11 while none of the channels overlap at 5ghz. Sounds like you are just in a area where there's nothing competing or you are hogging the spectrum by forcing 40mhz channels.
