Angry Nigerian mob on Thursday discovered and looted a warehouse where Covid-19 palliatives were hoarded at Mazamaza community, Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Lagos State.
It is sad to say that these hoarded palliatives, which were meant for the common people, were never distributed!
With the spate of #endsars protests and the burning of government-owned facilities by hoodlums in recent weeks, the governors of many Nigerian states have declared curfews and restrictions of movement to avoid the complete breakdown of law and order in their territories.

The result of this new lockdown in such states? The prices of most essential goods have reached record heights since most manufacturers and sellers cannot move their whares to the target customers.
Coming at a time when most Nigerians were coming out of the Covid-19 lockdown, it is clear to say that the timing of these protests occurred at the most unfortunate time when there was food scarcity in many areas.
So one could imagine the anger of Lagosians (as well as the Amuwo Odofin citizens) when they discovered that the government has been hoarding food that was meant for the ordinary people in low-income communities.

Stacked cartons of perishable goods, bags of food, and cartons of Covid-19 palliative were stacked away at the warehouse in Amuwo Odofin…while people went hungry during the Pandemic lockdown.
At Monkey village, around mazamaza in Amuwo Odofin LGA of Lagos State, the angry crowd lunged at the warehouse full of covid-19 relief packages…and eyewitnesses say it was a free-for-all for over 3 hours on Thursday.
Amuwo Odofin incidence is one of the causes of insecurity in Lagos.
Meanwhile, Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu has appealed to the citizens of Lagos to observe restraint and stay away from the streets in observance of the curfew that was declared in the state.
