I only fuck with Handcent, I used Go SMS for a little but stopped once I realized it was made by Chinese developers and there were users complaining that some of their texts and picture messages were being routed through servers in China.

only way I can see that happening is if you are using the inside messaging of their app which was goChat to other GoSMS users I believe. The SMS is just an interface for the stock SMS, just like Handcent. It doesn't use any services like that, look at the permissions.
