Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen and Miami Heat forward LeBron James highlight the NBA All-Defensive First Team.

The NBA announced Monday that Allen received 53 points in the voting while James tallied 52. Each player earned 25 First Team votes.

Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul (37 points, 15 First Team votes), Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka (46, 17), New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler (24, nine) and Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah (24,) rounded out the first team.

Allen was part of a Grizzlies defense that allowed a league-low 89.3 points per game. James had 17 games with at least three steals, and 10 games with at least two steals and two blocks. Ibaka paced the league with 3.03 blocks per game. Paul led the NBA with 2.41 steals per game. Chandler and Noah were part of two of the strongest defenses in the NBA. The Knicks were seventh in opponent scoring at 95.7 points per game and the Bulls third, allowing 92.9 points per game.

The NBA All-Defensive Second Team includes Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley, Grizzlies guard Mike Conley, San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan, Indiana Pacers forward Paul George and Grizzlies center Marc Gasol.

The voting was completed by the league's 30 head coaches and could not vote for players on their own team. Two points were awarded for a First Team vote and one point for a Second Team vote.

I knew Gasol wasnt gonna make the 1st team after winning DPOY.

2nd year DPOY doesnt make it.

Serge Ibaka and Tyson Chandler being first team also makes me chuckle.Tyson because he tied with Noah for it when Noah clearly had the better defenive year

yeah Bron did get snubbed as the Def. Player of the year award.
just thinking about, Joakim Noah, to me, is a better defensive player
then m.gasol

And 2nd year in a row the DPOY went to the wrong person. Not a coincidence.

The real travesty is that Roy Hibbert didn't get recognized. Not only did he get jobbed out of DPOY but he didn't even make a defensive team? When he anchored the #1 defensive in the NBA?

The funny thing is Marc Gasol almost got left off the 2nd team.

I've seen enough Memphis games to clearly recognize that Gasol is HIGHLY overrated as an individual defensive player.

Chris Paul racks up off the ball steals (much like iverson used to do) but he's average on defense at best :smh:

I'll take the coaches word over some damn sportswriters

Told y'all niggas Gasol wasn't no damn DPOY

His 7'1, 300 pound, charge taking ass aint even the best defender on his team
