Pip, like Jordan and Rodman is a baskeball genius. I swear that 72-10 team is so underrated it's criminal. 3 of the best defenders ever on one team.

Makes me miss the old days.

I got to thinking, after the Celtics dominated the seemingly hot Lakers from start to finish, especially defensively...

The Celtics are now 26-3. I haven't seen them too much beyond tonight and the 104-59 ass-whuppin' they put on the Knicks. A flashback to their decisive defensive decapitation of the pitiful Knicks:

Less than three minutes left in the third, 82-37 Celts... Can they double these motherfuckers?

I used to think it was unrealistic when I did shit like that on NBA Live as a kid.
104-59 :lol::lol::lol:

UNCONTESTED 3-point buzzer beater saved the knicks from all time lowest score in franchise history

After watching the Lakers tonight, with their normally potent offense reduced to stagnant mediocrity by the Celtics, the quote about the defensively-oriented 1995-96 Chicago Bulls brings to mind two questions:

Can the now 26-3 Celtics match the record of the 72-10 Bulls of 1995-96? Those Bulls started off 26-3.

Can the 2007-08 Boston Celtics win the NBA championship?

It's possible, but I doubt it. I predicted the same for Detroit the year they were on a roll. They have to get through without major injuries and things will be a little more difficult after all-star break when teams are playing to make it into and also jockey for playoff positions.

Why wasn't this thread made back when the Celtics played a real team like the Pistons?

When did giving a beat down to the lakers, a 7th or 8th seed in the West, suddenly make a team worthy of being on '95-'96 Chicago Bulls status?

The STANS are going to work with more faulty agenda promotion.

It's no sense in crowning a team a quarter into the season. Try again after they've played some of the better teams in the West.

If they dont win the Championship....then it dont matter...the playoffs are whole nother season within a season...because when that time comes...they are all 0-0.

72 dolphins...Superbowl champs
95-96 bulls .......NBA champs

08 Pats - 16-0, but in two weeks they will be 0-0 going against a 1-0 team
08 celtics - 26-3, but when the playoffs start in late may they will be 0-0 going against a a team that won four games.
so its truely to early to tell.......

Of course. Still, it would be amazing to see two New England teams break previous standards of regular season excellence and possibly championships.

Up your ass with a piece of glass...

The thread was made when they achieved a 26-3 record identical to that of the record-holding Bulls through 29 games.

I didn't even see the Celtics against the Pistons, which I admitted right above your salty ass post. But your dumbass is so eager to spew hatred you wouldn't have caught that.

Nobody's crowning anybody, so shove that up your ass right behind the glass. This is merely an evaluation of a team damn near halfway into the season. There were about a half dozen threads on Femme today, so I think this is at least worthy of the space.

Damn.

i'd say no on both.

those bulls went on a hot streak and ended up 41-3 before losing their next game.

and aside from a general lack of depth, the celtics also have a weak spot of paul pierce (team leader in TOs).

Lemme 'splain sunthin hurr.....

Da Celts'.....would lose miserably to MIKE (The G.O.A.T.) and his superfriends from the 95-96 squad fam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

I think the better question would be could they beat the Bullz opponent....

They had NO CHANCE fuckin' wit MIKE!!!! DA FUCK OUTTA HERE!

If they some real niggaz, like I know KG is, he would tell you they would probably lose that matchup....you gotta have something more than what the Celts' got...namely some decent vets coming off dat bench....and they ain't got that!

Nor do they have MIKE!

Hold on one min. I am a die hard Cs fan but I am not going to compare them to one of the greatest teams of all time until

1. we get deeper into the season and the record may become a reality

2. we win a championship.

Its like the Patriots. Sh-t they are 16-0 but Im not going to compare them to the 1978 Steelers which I think is the best team of all time until they win a championship. :hmm:

I just don't see them doing it. I mean they got the big 3, but what happens if one of them goes down with a major injury? If they lost KG than there goes their only major low-post scorer. If they lose Allen than there goes that top shooter to come in the clutch. They have a weak bench, and that could hurt them dearly...

Perfection and Overrated Championships

I think that's bullshit on a certain level, though, especially with football. "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics"-- a record ain't shit but a statistic. Anybody who saw the Patriots play against the Baltimore Ravens knows how easily they could have and probably should have lost that game. You're telling me that if a certain whistle isn't blown or a certain play goes a little differently, the 1972 Dolphins are really on an entirely different level than the 2008 Patriots, but because it didn't this exact same group of players with the exact same mentality, effort, coaching, and preperation is on that level?

Really?

I say "especially with football" because beating one team "any given Sunday" and never again doesn't prove superiority the way a seven game series might. The St. Louis Rams, when they first won with Kurt Warner, were two yards "better" than the Tennessee Titans and only advanced to the Superbowl because of bullshit calls in the NFC Championship game against Tampa Bay. You're telling me that if the Patriots are similarly fucked (like Tampa) or beaten by the most narrow margin possible (like Tennessee), they are automatically diminished, but otherwise that exact same team, no more capable and really no better, is PERFECT???

ill admit, during the 95-96 season, the league was kinda watered down.
and a lot of the bulls players from that team said it also.
if they would have played against teams that played in the 80's...i dont think my bulls would have won 70....but they still woulda kicked ass. :D

but to answer your question.

No...they wont match it.
may get close....but i think that record stands for a while.

and NO again.
they'll make it to the playoffs....but they wont win the title.
i think they might make it to the finals.... look at the east right now...:hmm:
the reason i say might is because the east do have a few teams that can compete with the celtics.....and also we really cant say shit until we see how most of these teams play in the second half of the season. some may start streaking.

but if they do make it to the finls....i dont see them beating most of the teams out west.
especially the mavs, spurs, and even the suns.
and maybe a few others.
