The USA is a nation governed by people, athletes included. During this time, tons of athletes believe they HAVE to have some type of social personality so their “brand” can excel. If a person can sell shoes, underwear and more, if a person can market themselves to children (cartoons, camps, food, etc) then it is fair to want that same person or people to speak out against injustice. I’d go as far as saying more youth these days know who Collin Kapernick, LeBron James and Kobe are than they know who MLK Jr. and Malcolm X were. The athletes are the people who are present and visible in kids lives. So many kids are pushed to be in sports BC it is a way “make it.”
