Windows 8 Is Getting A Backup Feature That Copies Apple's Time Machine

Microsoft started giving Windows 8 to computer manufacturers this week, and some new features are already starting leak.

The latest, discovered by TNW, is called History Vault, an automatic backup feature that seems to be a knockoff of Apple's Time Machine.

Just like Time Machine, History Vault will backup several times per day and allow you to restore a file or your system from a previous date.

Add that to the list of features Microsoft has borrowed from Mac OS X. But for Windows users, it's a welcome one.

Windows 7 just got here. How about making some improvements on that shit :hmm:

they needed to release windows 7 early to compete with linux in the netbook market and now they need to release windows 8 early to compete in the tablet market..

All apple has to do is kill off the tablet and release the iMonocle and microsoft will have to rush out windows 9

Windows 8 is probably another 3-4 years away. They were probably working on Windows 8 before the released Windows 7. Remember how fast 7 came out after that disaster OS Vista?

2012 was the last i heard as the release for win8.. they need it to work with tablet features so 3-4 years away would be a death sentence

Funny how they dissed Time Machine initially, and now they are implementing the same feature :smh:

Then again, they dissed the iPhone initially as well, and look where that got them

I think that time machine may be a rip off of gateway g-back. this fist computer that i had was a gateway. and it had a program that allow me to revert and make my pc like nothing had happened

Time Machine is a different animal. It does offer system restore functionality, but you can also restore data on a file by file, revision by revision, basis

Microsoft is that little fat kid that can't keep up. They should refocus on other products because they can no longer hang.

How is a CVS NOT a good idea?
