Can somebody tell me something? What is the point behind the Cadillac EXT? I mean a pick up is a working car. A Cadillac is a style car. I put dirt, haul stuff, tools, things that might scratch up your truck in the flatbed. You don't do that type of shit with a Caddy? That's like a housekeeper cleaning hotels in Manolo Blahniks or Jimmy Chu heels and Louis Vuitton gloves. That shit may look good, but it ain't functional. $61-70K for what?

To answer the question, it's an easy business case. The same platform is shared by the Avalanche, the only difference is an upgraded interior and some exterior bling. For a few simple changes GM can tack on 10K+ to the pricetag. Even if it the sales are slow, they lose little money because it took almost no extra engineering time and mostly likely the plant can switch to Avalanche production.

Another example of this the seems to make no sense on the surface, is the Lincoln Mark LT. It's even less differentiated than the Avalanche. They basically took an F-150 and gave it a new grille and some Linclon emblems. The trucks never sold well, but the profit still justified the truck. I hate badge engineering for the most part, but sometimes you can't ignore the easy profit.

what fucked up is that I know this guy here in town who leased one and ended up having to buy it. From what i was told he regrets buying it but wont admit it. He currently drives another brand SUV...and that blackwood sits in his front yard....i think he drives it occasionally...if that
