At first I was going to compare the Mac with a refurbished Sony but Sony has BRAND NEW laptops at the same prices of some of the refurbished ones (Good for u Sony, Apple take notes...)

So is spending over a thousand bucks for a USED Mac really worth the purchase compared to (just for an example) Sony?????????

What do u y'all think?

man....fuck macs

I had the macbook pro, but sold that bitch for $1100

something newer and cheaper....no brainer

If you get the Sony, make sure you get the hi-color screen. That's what I have and it's he best screen display you've ever seen for a laptop.

Yeah my next laptop is going to have specs like that one:

Graphics : ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3650 with 512MB vRAM

Display : LCD 16.4"

C'mon now

My 15.6 laptop is a little too big for me to carrying it around so I know one with a 16.4 is strictly a desktop replacement, battery life won't be an issue.

Hey Gadget Man, what are those 2 slider devices in your sig? I searched thru your blogsight but couldn't find articles on them.

My last three laptops have all been vaio. Btw I have had 4 mac laptops, I have sold them all,lol....

Go with the Vaio....btw it truly has the best screen ever.

on my vaio now, cant go wrong with a vaio even with an entry leval one and if you got like 1000+ to drop on one i dare anyone to find me a mack that will fuck with what you will find at a sony style store for that price:dance::dance:

get the mac and parrales and call it a day... think about the resale value. that vaio is basically "subsidized". that mac might be worth what the vaio is now 2 years from now. basicly what im trying to say is the mac may be twice as much, but you will be able to use it twice as long...

Both are the Nvidia tegra phone, it plays & encodes in full HD, the UI on this alone blows away the current Apple 3g, plus the price will be cheap at $200.

This is in production & should see it this year :)

That is freshhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! I see that its gonna support 12 mp camera sure a s shit beats out the 3.2 that my g1 currently got:hmm:. Just seeing the capabilities of this phone 1080 HD,, ensures that I'm not gonna get ANY other phone including that bullshit MyTouch!!!!!!

But u know whatever company gets this phone their gonna scrap a lot of the tech, and double the $200 pricetag :hmm:

Never look at the Mac from a hardware perspective because you'll end up choosing the pc everytime. The Mac will outperform the pc based on the Leopard being lighter & more fluid than XP or Vista. With that in mind, you'll be able to use the Mac for a longer time & still be able to resell it back at a higher price than the Sony.

Of course, it cost almost twice as much.:puke:

bullshit, show proof of leopard outperforming vista

Same can be said for BMWs & Benz. They all have the same components as a Volvo, VW or any other car, but you pay more for the quality & the resale value will always be higher as well no matter how old the car is.

I have both Mac & pc but the Mac will outperform the pc while still having lower hardware specs. I tested that out myself with a friend using Reason. My macbook only has 2GB of ram but I was able to open 5 windows of Reason(each with a full song), a window of Logic Pro, & Firefox without any lag in performance. There's no way the pc would've been able to do that unfortunately.

I can tell you that OSX handles memory differently than Windows. For example if you start stressing the memory on Windows, the entire OS starts to run like shit until you start freeing some up. On OSX only the apps that are eating up memory run like shit, the OS still runs fine.

Also, I'm the type of person who's constantly working on various projects, and leaves my computer running 24/7. On Windows, around day 2 my system starts running like ass, and I need to reboot. On OSX I can keep that thing running for weeks and it runs fine (I try to shutdown every so often to lessen the stress on the hardware, or if the room temp is high).

And one last point, I can run a Mac with half the specs of a PC and it runs just as good or better for general purpose computing (internet, email, photos, music, documents, etc.).

I dont know what it will take to convince you otherwise, cause I was in your shoes at one point too. But I was so sick of Windows, tweaking the OS, and building PC's. I just wanted something that worked, and got out the way and allowed me to be more productive.

Switching did it for me, and yea I paid a few hundred more than I would of on a PC. But once you open that box, and see all the shit they put into every product, you get it. Plus no more maintenance and tweaking!!

And from a hardware perspective, you also gotta understand Apple uses custom boards, different materials, and actually looking at how precisely assembled these systems are (down to the most minute details), I'm sure it costs them some money. And if you look at any other manufacturer who tries to compete directly with Apple in regards to design, materials, assembly, etc. etc. Those systems usually end up in the same price range or more expensive than the Apple offering (Dell's unibody aluminum Laptop comes to mind).

Just my two

Mofos kill me with this price shit. Yes I was a PC geek, but i switched over to see the otherside. Yes with this 1 mac, i could have got 1 desktop and a laptop. But you get what u pay for.

Ive had this macbook pro since christmas, no virus no probs running programs... Shit I even Run XP on this shit.. Overall I have 2 laptops in 1.

When it comes down to it, If everyone had apple money this wouldnt even be a topic.

Same mofos running Windows are the same mofos with the iphone saying they hate windows mobile. Lol.

Apple software has more to do with you not having any problems than the hardware.

Many of the components are the same in PC Laptops (CPU, Memory, Hard drive) so what are you exactly paying $700-$1000 extra for?

I need that Mac OS...can't really deal
with a windows environment.....snow leopard is
just gonna up that bar when its released.

yo gadgetman what type of digi cam u use
to take the picture in watches thread.

joint was lookin clear.

That's from my T-mobile G1 phone, the videos look good also.

Thats a good point, but its the same thing when iphones first came out. No one is competing with macs so they milking what they can until windows catch up. When your #1, aint no reason to change shit. if Im the only one on the block with my exclusive shit and its selling regardless, imma milk that bitch till the wheels fall off.

You're in essence paying for the quality & piece of mind associated w/ Mac computers. Like I said earlier, you can buy a luxury car for thousands more than a regular car but you're buying it for more than just taking you from point A to B. The build quality, performance & breakdown ratio is what makes you lean towards luxury cars as opposed regular ones. Same can be said for Mac vs PC. The PC may run you less but all the hassle for apps to make it run properly, OS/app crashing, pc lag/freezing & worrying about viruses/spyware can take its toll on a non-savy user. It's just that many everyday users either can't afford to splurge the extra dollars for the Mac or don't know enough about it to make that decision.

The Vaio. If you really need to see an Apple logo on your laptop you can Dual boot Mac OS X and Windows 7 - both run well on the Vaio platform with a little work.

yeah my last 3 computer have been vaio....now i got macbook there is no way i go back to pc.

its like you can fuck any women wihtout condom and never be infected.

If I could have the Sony hardware with full running Mac OS X I'd get a Sony.

I have to keep reminding myself that my loyalty to Mac isn't about its hardware so much as it is about the stability and reliability of the OS.

Until that is fully possible, every PC can kick rocks. Nigga bigging up PCs are probably them crooks who go around "fixing" peoples computers and "removing" viruses for them.
