Jim Brown ain't done jack shit for JD Walker nigga.
I worked hard for my own shit. Why should I share that with yo lazy ass? Why should I give 2 shits about niggas and bitches making bad financial decisions (having babies). That's their shit on the floor, they need to go play in it. You need to stop being a time wasting enabling coon and get with the program and see the majority of people for who they really are; untrustworthy pieces of shit that wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire.
Oh yeah, that's right THe Civil Rights Movement did NOthing for your dumb ass, right?
Hey, where do you live at?
Chances are, if it wasn't for black folks marching and dying and standing up, you wouldn't be able to LIVE THERE.
What job do you have?
Chances are, if it wasn't for people like Jim Brown, Muhammad Ali, MLK, and Malcolm X, you wouldn't be able to work there.
What dumb niggaz like YOU don't understand is that POOR PEOPLE have ALWAYS after years of depression and poverty, slipped through the cracks. YOu make bad decisions when you are under pressure and don't know what to do or where to turn
I don't agree with Jim Browns assessment....
Tiger + Michael Jordan have influence more people to lead successful lives than any kinda activism would ever have. How many of us on BGOL kept our grades up to make the team to be like mike. Each of these people choose to touch the world in their own way.....
I can't knock a man who doesn't share my convictions. People are who they are. I love tiger and mike for what they personify with sports. The push the limit of imagination and possibility.
How?
I've never met ANYBODY who have been personally affected by Woods or Jordan in anyway. People played basketball BEFORE Jordan, so the idea that trying to make the team is some how Michael Jordan's influence is bullshit. Athletes most of the time have teachers and faculty willing to CHEAT for them on the SAT, grades and everything else to keep them eligible.
Now, you may have not been good enough of an athlete to have somebody cheat for you, but I know of dudes who went to the NBA, and none of them kept their grades up to be like Mike, they CHEATED throughout high-school and college to be like Mike.
Colin Alert!!!:
First of all, someone needs to come up with a concrete definition of "giving back". Secondly, Jim Brown does a whole lot for the "community", that's a fact, but when did he start? Not a shot, but an honest question, because I don't know. Did he start in his retired years, or did he start while he was at the top of his game, like Tiger is? To me, the 2 people who put it ALL on the line were Eartha Kitt and Ali. They jeopardized their careers to on behalf of their people. The fact that not too many people were willing to do that then, should tell you that you shouldn't expect too many people to do that now.
Sometimes, having a deep familiarity with your people will make you hesitant to "give back". Two things have always stuck with me. One year I volunteered to participate at a shelter during Christmas. As we were handing out toys, one of the mothers said, "This is some cheap shit! I wouldn't buy this bullshit for my child!", I wanted to say, "No bitch, you wouldn't because YOU'RE FUCKING BROKE!", but I didn't. Another thing I remember was this cat in NYC. He owned a few supermarkets, and he tried to keep the money in his neighborhood. He hired the people that lived there, helped reopen the after school spot, paid to fix up the park when the city refused, and all kinds of other shit. Dude literally spent a few hundred thousand dollars in his community. He said that after he'd been robbed for the 5th time and the after school spot broken into numerous times, he said "Fuck it.", sold off his stores and moved away.
What I'm saying is, it takes 2 to "give back". If the cats that Jim Brown is mentoring and helping keep doing the same shit, what's the point? It seems to me that black celebrities are the only ones who are forcefully obligated to "give back". Why is that? This may be unpopular, but if MJ or Tiger wants to do some shit in "the hood", that's great, but to tell them that they "owe" the people in the hood is bullshit. Some of the same people who were clowning the nerdy guy for "acting and talking" white, are the same people asking, "What's he doing for the hood?", when he becomes successful.

"Some of These Niggaz Iz Bytches Too!"
Yes, they are.
Amerikkan Idol
Haha, who are you to say it's right? It's neither right or wrong. It's just one method of success. One of many.
You propogate the fallacy of collectivism. Collectivism can work, I never once said that it could not. I have nothing wrong with blacks that choose to practice this belief. My issue comes with those who try to force it on us all.
Name me ONE group where the "wealthy" WEREN'T the catalysts behind economic change.
You mention all these groups, they have one thing in common that we don't. They have the immigrant mentality of togetherness. We no longer have a "together" mentality. Which makes it impractical for us (which is who we are talking about). Not saying it's impossible, just saying change wont come from the wealthy in our community. It must start from the bottom. The black community can be likened to a 3rd world country. The best and brightest get the fuck out and usually don't return. The ones that remain are the only ones that can truly be counted on.
Wrong. The poor can come together and pool what little they have, and start very small businesses. This would obviously require alot of trust and sacrifice. It's what many immigrants do when they get here. If lower income blacks were to do follow the examples set by these immigrants then they too could have atleast a little something. Of course, this wont happen because people would rather point fingers than think progressively.
My logic? Clearly you are mistaken. I never said anyone should do anything. If those that get rich want to leave...then it's perfectly acceptable. It is of course their life and no one has any right to try to dictate it. Just like its the right of those that want to stay and become activists or attempt to rebuild the community. Live and let live, as I like to say.
...and econmic opportunities wont come unless people feel they can make decent money in said area. It's like a scale for most Americanized people, how much to I get out and how much do I put in? This is why many decide that it's not worth it. As for those examples of people that came back and helped where they came from...thats great. Good for them. Like I said before, I never advocated people to leave or to stay. I think those that stay and help are admirable and should be praised. Which is actually what I said early on.
This is true, and it's why the poor should pool what little they have to build something more. Of course many choose not to do this.
Wrong. Again, I never stated that any should or shouldnt bring growth to their community. As for the "fuck yall, do for self" comment I say this, ultimately you can only rely on yourself. So instead of waiting for someone to help you, you need to be as proactive as possible in obtaining your goal. In the modern day "self" is much more reliable than community, atleast in our case. Just my opinion.
As for your other comment, the answer is that I agree. However it can work for individuals but not the collective. Which to me is more than acceptable. .
Once again, you can't name ONE group of people that have done what you're saying.
I can name MANY who've done what I'm sayin. Just admit that you don't give a fuck about Black people and leave it alone.
Poor people can't generate the capital to compete with the rich. It's IMPOSSIBLE. you need RICH people to save a community, and every community I named had that.
You keep talking about immigrants?
Guess what, the Irish had been here for 200 YEARS!!!! By the time the 20th Century. They didn't just get off the boat, when the Irish Mob and people like the Kennedy's came along. The Kennedy's that we all know and love aint from Ireland. They're from Massachusettes. But they still kept their identity as Irish people and rebuilt their communities. With drug money, but still, it was done, so that argument is retarded.
We ARE collective.
We were slaves together for 400 years.
We were denied human rights together for another 100.
If we don't wanna do for each other, then we deserve everything that happens to us.
Exactly, people that believe in building collectivism tend to live in a fantasy world when it comes to our current situation. You can only truly rely upon yourself in our time. This imaginary "community" is as worst non existant, and at best completely unreliable due to exactly what you just stated. The whole "black collectivism" concept works on things being more ideal. People genuinely caring about the next man. This is no longer the case most times. Not to take awa from Jim Brown's charitable acts of course.
It aint "imaginary".
Other groups, even those that have been in Amerikkka for 200, 300 years have kept their identities.
The Irish and Italians had been here for centuries, when they finally emerged from the ghettos.
He should be "calling out" Chris Brown and other batterers, but that would be hitting to close to home. Twisted priorities, as usual.![]()
That's a dumb ass bitch question.
People aren't POOR and UNEDUCATED because of abuse. People ABUSE because they are POOR and UNEDUCATED.
