I'm a little confused here. Exactly who of significance and importance was actually taking advice or even listening to Tupac? You cats have a put a talented albeit thuggish rapper on a pedestal he did nothing to deserve. The FBI wouldn't even waste their time on someone that had absolutely no influence whatsoever with the movers and shakers in our society. Contrary to popular? belief, Shug Knight etc are not movers and shakers.:hmm: Get real.

Nah, Pac' while he was alive caused a lot of noise and he came from the Black Panthers. Pac' before his death was gaining a lot of clout. The feds still are fucking with people who from the BPP and black power movements on the low. Many who are still alive and much older can't even get a job in this country.

Tupac was a leader. He had too much power! same reason Malcolm X, Martin Luther king and  Biggie was killed.

Tupac had powerful messages in his lyrics, albeit he was known to go on a tantrum, but once he matured into a grown man his messages would have turned completely positive and lead the masses. in case you haven't notice....the gubment doesn't like black people to be led in the right direction!

I can see them on him like that when I found out that thug life was a gang not just something he use to holla out... If any one is from D.C or Maryland and been lock up before they can tell you more about it

Tupac died so young, that much of his gifts had not yet matured, but you could see bits and pieces of it. Atleast thats how I feel, personally he's one of my favorite artists, but I dont take his words that seriously as maybe I did when I was younger.

thats my H.O. on 2pac

had all his cds (no downloads/refused to do that) and can break down the mans life.

Seeing this and talking to them made me see 2pac in a different light.

- I dunno about that...I think he was relevant for his time, but I think he would have went the ice cube/ll cool j route..

2pac was an artist...he appreciated film and acting for the ART form...he'd have been a hell of an actor by now.

Man Pac wasn't any type of black leader. Revisionist history is a motherfucker. He was a rapper. Point blank period. His lifestyle lead to his death. Point blank period.

Don't get me wrong. I liked some of his music. He was a very talented artist and had some good messages in his music. However, Pac was not in a position to be taken seriously by the black "power brokers" and the white "power brokers" didn't even know who he was. He was no where near the level of Martin or Malcom who had the power to change policy. Therefore he wasn't more than a blip on the FBI's screen.

There was nobody like Pac. Many of his shit was anti government. His peoples were from the Panther era. Hell yea he was influential. He influenced me in a lot of his songs. He dropped knowledge in songs like Words to Wisdom, White Mans World, A Letter to The President, Keep Ya Head Up, etc.

2Pac is originally from the East Coast. He brought his EastCoast flava to the West Coast. He is the most idolized rapper, not BIG. He was similar to King and X in a way that if he began to teach more revolutionary positivity, that would become a great threat.

You know what gang violence is, mostly
and the people dont want you to hear this
somebody shoots your family member
so of course you retaliate, You know what i mean
Same thing the U.S does except nobody even shot their family members
you know, they see that, somebody bomb a school
and all these people get killed
so the united states feel like ooh thats messed up
we gotta go show em who tha real killers
this country was built on gangs, you know
i think this country still is run on gangs
republicans, democrats, the police department, the FBI
the CIA, those are gangs, you know what i mean

the correctional officers,
I had a correctional officer tell me straight,
we the biggest gang in us
straight up

Suppress the revolution a premeditated scheme
Introduce a drug called crack, to us ghetto teens
Got a law for raw niggaz, now playa what it be like?
When will niggaz see they got us bleeding with three strikes
Can't seem to focus hopeless, with violent thoughts I wrote this
Got these Devils petrified, hiding from my hocus-pocus

And so I learned to earn my currency in over time (muahahaha)
Affiliated, clearly click a military mind
May God forgive us though we dwell inside a paradox
Thugged out and drug dealing, from the womb to the block

My live mind got me surviving five rounds
My forty-five got my fortified with live rounds
When shits thick we plot hits, when our glock spits
All hail, Out on Bail, Wrath of 2Pacalypse
Forever ghetto necessary picture food stamps
Outlaw Thug Niggaz never left the boot camp

(Verse 2)

Now i was born as a rebel, making trouble for the devil
Take this gang bang shit, to a whole another level
Can you feel me now? Armies in every city
Definition of power, players are you with me?

See the war is the prophecy, survival is the strategy
Rest in peace to my comrades that deceased

Organize these streets in time
You ll have these devils petrified of a nigga in his right mind
They tell us that we hopeless and hell bound

This for the brothers in penetentiaries jailed down
I got you in my heart till tha day i die
Think of tha damage we can do, if we wasn't high

Can you picture me loc? Its a thugs wrath
Political contracts and blood baths
For Matulu Shakur up in the rikers,
Though they got you, I never let them stop me
The struggle continues

Now if we do want to live a thug life and a gangster life and all of that,
ok, so stop being cowards and lets have a revolution
but we don't wanna do that, dudes just wanna live of character
They wanna be cartoons, but if they really wanted to do something
if they was that tough, alright, lets start our own country
lets start a revolution, lets get out of here, lets do something

The only person that I've ever heard Tupac have an angered word against on disk was for Biggie and few other east coast rappers.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I've never heard him say anything negative about the government or have any anarchist type lyrics in his raps.

The Feds probably didn't perceive him to be a major threat but still a threat none the less.
He had tremendous influence among white(still majority), latino(who now are growing fastest), asian(pop. is increasing too), and of course black youth back in the mid 90's who would now be in their 20-30s.
That fool said himself he had a million die hard fans he could directly "persuade" to vote or something to that effect.

So you see he wasn't just a black leader but had the clout to influence many different races and that's power.

You must not listen to Pac then. Listen to the songs 'Words to Wisdom", "Violence", and "I Don't Give A Fuck'. It's on his first album.
