Oh shit!

Under Armour and Stephen Curry have mutually agreed to end their 13-year partnership effective immediately, they said on Thursday.

The sudden announcement separates Curry Brand, which makes basketball shoes and apparel, from Under Armour at a time when the sportswear brand is struggling to kickstart sales. As part of the split, Curry will maintain sole ownership of Curry Brand and is free to find another retail partner. Under Armour will release the Curry 13, the final Curry Brand shoe with Under Armour, in February.

“For Under Armour, this moment is about discipline and focus on the core UA brand during a critical stage of our turnaround,” Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank said in a statement. “And for Stephen, it’s the right moment to let what we created evolve on his terms. We’ll always be grateful for what he’s brought to the UA team.”

“What Curry Brand stands for, what I stand for and my commitment to that mission will never change, it’s only growing stronger,” Curry said in a statement. “I’m excited for a future that’s focused on aggressive growth with a continued commitment to keep showing up for the next generation.”

Under Armour’s split with Curry was announced alongside an expansion of the company’s restructuring plan. The company now expects it to cost $255 million, $95 million more than it previously said, including the separation of the Curry brand, additional contract terminations, impairment charges and severance costs.

Under Armour’s basketball business, including the Curry brand, is expected to bring in between $100 million and $120 million in revenue during the current fiscal year, which will end early next year, the company said in a news release. The separation is not expected to have a “significant effect” on Under Armour’s financial results or profitability, it said.

UNDER ARMOUR AND STEPHEN CURRY AGREE TO CURRY BRAND SEPARATION

BALTIMORE, Nov. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Under Armour, Inc. (NYSE: UAA, UA) and Stephen Curry today announced plans to separate Curry Brand from Under Armour, ending a partnership that has redefined performance product and athlete-led storytelling for more than a decade. Under Armour, with a disciplined focus on its namesake brand, will develop new UA Basketball products and continue to support athletes and programs across every level of the game.

Under the separation, Curry will become independent of Under Armour. UA will release the Curry 13 – the final Curry Brand x Under Armour shoe – in February 2026 as planned, with additional colorways and apparel collections available through October 2026.

"It's been an incredible privilege to work with Stephen, who as President of Curry Brand has been much more than an ambassador – he's become a thoughtful and strategic business leader," said Kevin Plank, Founder and CEO of Under Armour. "Together with our teammates, he helped build something rare: a brand with credibility, community impact, and product that performs at the highest level. For Under Armour, this moment is about discipline and focus on the core UA brand during a critical stage of our turnaround. And for Stephen, it's the right moment to let what we created evolve on his terms. We'll always be grateful for what he's brought to the UA team."

Launched in 2020 as an extension of Stephen Curry's longtime partnership with Under Armour, Curry Brand has combined performance innovation with community investments – especially in youth sports and underfunded basketball programs – while serving as a global platform for both parties' on and off-court values. Through this partnership, Under Armour expanded its Project Rampart youth sports and education initiative to Oakland, and it will continue to support those efforts.

"Under Armour believed in me early in my career and gave me the space to build something much bigger and more impactful than a shoe. I'll always be grateful for that." said Stephen Curry. "Curry Brand was created to change the game for good and over the past 5 years, we successfully changed the game for kids, for communities, and for basketball. What Curry Brand stands for, what I stand for and my commitment to that mission will never change, it's only growing stronger. I'm excited for a future that's focused on aggressive growth with a continued commitment to keep showing up for the next generation."

"This move lets two strong teams do what they do best," Plank added. "Under Armour is focused on product innovation and performance for athletes at every level. Curry Brand gets the independence to determine its own future. That's good for Stephen and good for UA."

Under Armour had a nice run up until a few years ago but all their shoes lately have been ass and the sneaker market overall is down.
There was a time where damn near every kid playing basketball was rocking Steph Curry shoes.
UA has been bleeding money for the past few years so it was in their best interests to get out of their deal with Steph.
If I'm Steph I'm starting my own brand or signing with one of them Chinese companies.

Ohhhh he's going independent... Must've saw them sneakers revenue and said hey I can buy the materials myself and dish these shits out and make 9 figs a yr as a solo act
I mean currently he has the "Curry Brand" which is Under Armour but it's separate brand within UA.

It sounds like he'll be sticking to that but who makes it is the question?

I hear ya butI'm not sure if he'd ever rock with Nike, I could be wrong though.
Why? Nike even in their current down years is still has the biggest brand cache. Steph is arguably the most marketable basketball player. Lebron is not what his was brand and game wise. Ja is moron. Zion is Zion. It's the perfect timing. His game is relatable to kids, family man(unless his goofy as wife destroys that) and very likeable personality in general. If he had the collabs and colorways Kyrie had with Nike them shit would've been double the sales of the Kyries.

Nike disrespected and didn't appreciate Steph and for that reason I don't think he'd go back.

But I could be wrong.

Nike's Nike and they've build a following so it's easier for them to sell shoes especially different colorways.

Steph's 37 years old with a few years left, I doubt Nike's ready to throw lots of cash at him.

Im thinking 50 mill a year for the next 20 years. Or a lifetime deal like lebron. Either way the contract is gonna be a billi and the biggest sneaker deal EVER. Nike with a Jordan type deal where he can maintain the Curry brand is probably the only place that can land him.

He could always call LaVar.
