Jon Kent, the DC Universe's new Superman and the son of Clark Kent, is coming out as bisexual in November's Superman: Son of Kal-El #5, by writer Tom Taylor, artist John Timms, colorist Gabe Eltaeb and letterer Dave Sharpe.

"I've always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes and I’m very grateful DC and Warner Bros. share this idea," Taylor said in a statement to DC. "Superman's symbol has always stood for hope, for truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something more. Today, more people can see themselves in the most powerful superhero in comics." The writer also shared the news on Twitter in celebration of Coming Out Day.

Yet another comic book publicity stunt aimed at shocking the fandom while trying to appeal to the "woke/SJW" crowd.
These days both Marvel and DC focus on the same 3 things to get "views" rather than telling great stories:
- Characters sexuality. (LGBTQ in particular)
- Characters race, religion or ethnicity. (Race swapping whenever possible).
- Female empowerment. (Pushing the Strong female narrative at ALL times).

Once you see it for what it is, (just another stunt) you become pretty indifferent to it and unmoved by it... :dunno:

Why is it wrong to love women as a man today?

Why MUST they force gayness on everything.

Animals aren’t gay. Never seen to make lions fucking.

pussy is right there!!! Just fuck pussy! Pussy is life changing great

i feel for the next generation

Even the cover screams of faggotry...... "In the clutches of Henry Bendix?".... they forgot to spell Henry with an "i" ..... Henri

Is the gay community that large and strong for DC to do something like this to try and save themselves, to turn the ship around???? They got a laaarge gay/lesbo platform for sure as it is...Bat Woman??? Gay Robin???...Desperation runs strong at DC.... DC is the "Titanic" of the comic industry.... looking for more icebergs to crash into.... :smh: :smh: :smh:

No.
Not really.
DC is currently trying VERY HARD to appeal to the LGBTQ Community by putting out content aimed specifically at them, while alienating their more established, hardcore, loyal fanbase.

It's not that the LGBTQ Community isn't big enough.
It's that DC/Warner is TOO FUCKING STUPID to realize that The LGBTQ Community LOVES comic book characters in the same way Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and Middle Eastern people do all around the world.

They love these characters NOT because of their race, sexuality or politics but because of who they are and what they stand for.

I think we have to examine WHY we love these characters since the vast majority do not reflect or represent us and weren't created to.

most if not all or white males...who live in a white world that non white people only occasionally exist in when the story calls for it.

Do we love them becuz the stories and characters are great or becuz we've been conditioned thru white supremacy to take what they present to us???

Watch the CW run with this and carry it over to Superman & Lois

Tell me.
Does this character need to be Black in order for you to enjoy reading his exploits?
Batman_Caped_Crusader2C_COLOR.jpg

Does a introverted Black teen in Baltimore need this guy to be Black to understand what it means to be picked on by the school bully?
spiderman-nerd.jpg

Does a shy Hispanic teen in Philadelphia need this character to be Hispanic to relate to what it's like to be in love with a girl who doesn't even see how special he really is?

Do children ALL OVER THE WORLD not understand that this character stands up for what's right and fights evil no matter what and are inspired by him?
Chris-Evans-title-character-Joe-Johnston-Captain.jpg

Did White teens in Nashville not love this character and identify with his strength, his skills and not want to be like him?
file-20180207-74473-zbs0ny.jpg

Did gays, lesbians, trans and bi people CHEER (like everybody else did) when The Avengers charged into battle in Endgame?
g3tyd63vjg371.jpg

My point is this:
Fictional heroes need not look like, be exactly like or even share the same sexuality as the reader/watcher in order for you to look up to, to enjoy their exploits, to emulate, or relate to.

Should we have more people of color and diversity in stories, popular entertainment and tales to astonish?
- YES. ABSOLUTELY!!!!

But, we love these characters because of who they are, what they do & represent and what they stand for.
Not because of their skin color or sexuality....:hmm:

The pics you posted and POC you cited didn't have much of a choice in terms of the characters and heroes presented to them.
As for white people, its documented history that they largely rejected or ignored stories, movie, tv shows etc that didn't feature them prominently.

superman is historically an A-list hero while Black Panther is a C-Lister in the comics. The response of whites to BP and the movie itself could only happen in the last 20 years thats not a coincidence. In fact the notion of forced casting and diversity isn't even new as whites were cast in roles for non whites and whole stories featuring non white leads were altered to be told thru the eyes and actions of white characters in many cases created just this purpose and thats been happening in american society so much and so long thats its a trope.

so the idea that we love these characters because of who they are, what they do & represent and what they stand for.
Not because of their skin color or sexuality is just not true. These characters were developed under the influence of white supremacy and we (the non white we) love them because when the only choice of superhero is a white male and you want to enjoy comics in 1950, 60, 70 , 80 etc who else are you going to look up to? Who else is going to be that prominent example and given broad mainstream exposure and marketing??
