Netflix Movie: The OLD GUARD (2020) ACTION Starring Charlize Theron (Looks Good)

Yep. 7. If no fag shit, 8 but man it kinda was like a bunch of questions nobody could answer as the movie progressed. I was like do you all really need the sister? Why can’t y’all keep doing y’all own thing? The Villian was substandard and went nowhere. This needs to be a series.

As long as Europeans are in creative control of media ...you’ll see homosexuality featured

That’s their cave culture ....they love it and won’t let it go

i enjoyed it and think it was one of the best direct to streaming films I've seen to date
could've definately have been late summer release

as others mentioned I saw some of the twists coming, the main bad guy was very cliche but the film did a great job with mythbuilding, action scenes and building to an eventual franchise

All the enemys they had throughout history...and no one thought to see what happens if they lop a head off?

I hear you. The gay shit wasnt needed at all. It didn't forward the story along and it had no point. They didn't talk about anyone else's sexuality, (boyfriend/husband/wife/girlfriend) why those two?

They had a closeness or a bond anyway due to them all being quasi-immortal

The sister was needed because, though none of them knew how they came to be, whenever someone is "born" or became immortal they had a magnetic attraction that helped them find each other.

So, though no one knew where they originated, them becoming immortal seemed to happen randomly. It wasn't blood or passed down, it simply occurred, as noted by one of them, I cannot remember who (I think it was the traitor) said how he had to watch everyone he knew and loved die

It was like in Black Panther they told the story through the white CIA agent of how everything started. That is how and why the sister was needed for this movie, because at first you are like "Who are these people and how did they come to be?"

Yea you right that is a Euro thang. The Romans and shit from way back in Greek times had the men keeping lil boys on some pedo shit. Orgies

I liked it. It was 2 hours well spent and would watch a sequel. I would agree that it's something like a 7 or 8 on a scale of 10. Reminded me a lot like Highlander from the 80's. The gay shit wasn't really that noticeable to me except for the scene where he talks about how much he loves him, outside of that I don't really recall anything gay.

You didn't see them boo'd up when everybody was sleeping and kissing when they were being transported in the van? What's your secret cause I wish I had missed all that shit.

I can recall the scene in the van and didn't want to give away any of plot but honestly, I don't remember a scene where everyone was sleeping.

Watched it last night with the wife. Between this Spenser Confidential and Extraction, Netflix has been doing their thing on direct to streaming action movie releases. Shit was very enjoyable.

Still havent seen this yet...

Is it ok for kids under 13?

It's not full of too much gore but close to Terminator/Terminator 2 style blood/guts/action.

Typical action movie where bones are broken and piercing out of skin.....

Your mileage may vary but I wouldn't let a kid under 13 watch.

That said, I watched those films when I was 10-13 year old.

Crazy right?

There's a comic miniseries out now which takes place after the movie..

the minute they introduced the faggotry ( i should have expected it since it's a netflix movie) i lost interest and cut the movie off. I already was trying to figure out the plot, then that 'scene' happened and i said fuck it.

it was ok ,a one time watch but i just hate the woman.i mean cant stand her in anything shes on.thank god they took her off batwoman

***some spoilers ahead***
I like some of Gina's work but the pacing on this was off and kind of all-over-the-place. Its almost like she was directing two different movies or she shared directing with another director. They tried too hard to hash out with exposition things they could have shown. A few other things didn't make sense to me either. If you are supposedly friends with someone for hundreds of years, why would you repeatedly call them "boss"? If I've been knowing you that long and still see myself as your subordinate then there is a problem with the relationship dynamic right there. Feminists try too hard to exert examples of superiority. That's how you can tell the female involvement. "Make sure they call her boss!"

Also, the standard subliminal signals were all there: white men bad, gay men good, gyrl power, the future is female and all of the typical PC representations were on full blast. Black male immortal died first, so kniggas still dying first in movies.
Also, the villain was wack as fuck. Villains that don't challenge the hero are almost never any good. For a so-called "genius", dude was pretty stupid. Seems like he was just there to represent toxic male behavior. And how in the hell did she get an unconscious Niles off a military base that she snuck into in the first place? in a stolen military vehicle at that? White girl magic? FOH.
Half the time, the movie wanted you to suspend disbelief; the other half of the time, it wanted to be seen as rooted in reality.
It wasn't a bad movie but I wouldn't watch it again. Honestly, I'm not interested in a second movie, either. The movie needed a better nemesis in THIS movie, not the next one. And, Chiwetel's talents were wasted in this film.

Charlize Theron says male director made her do multiple costume fittings to look more 'f---able'

"Having some guy make you have a fitting almost in front of them — stuff like that, it's really belittling."

Charlize Theron is done letting men dictate her fashion choices onscreen.
The actress, who is set to star in Netflix's The Old Guard 2 and The School For Good and Evil, recalled an experience with an unnamed male director who she said had her attend multiple costume fittings in an attempt to sexualize both her and her character.
"I remember one movie in particular, this male director who just kept bringing me in, fitting after fitting after fitting," she told Harper's Bazaar. "And it was just so obvious that it was to do with my sexuality and how f---able they could make me in the movie. And when I started out, that was just kind of the norm."

Earlier in the interview, Theron shared that she had been irked by men making decisions about her outfits since the beginning of her career.

"Having absolutely no control over what you're wearing is a big one that really f---ing annoyed me for years," she said. "Having some guy make you have a fitting almost in front of them — stuff like that, it's really belittling."
Theron added that there was "no conversation" around the outfit selection process at all when she was first starting out. Instead, she said, "It was like, 'This is what you're wearing.'"
While starring in the 2003 film Monster, Theron recalled trying to protect Patty Jenkins' vision after getting the feeling that its financiers were more interested in creating "a hot lesbian movie with me and Christina Ricci." She founded her own production company, Denver & Delilah, the same year.
"There's a natural fight in me to want to create environments that feel like the things that I wish I had 30 years ago when I started," she shared. Theron is a producer on the forthcoming Old Guard sequel and revealed that its cast and crew consisted of 85 percent women.

When it comes to being a producer, Theron acknowledged, "I don't always get it right." Still, she added, "I am very aware of looking at the big picture and saying, 'Is this really the best we can do?'"
