So I just start binge watching this show. Just say episode

WTF after all the shit Mudd did they just let him go? I get that they want him to be some recurring character like Q but this is just some garbage writing.

A new Star Trek TV show focusing on the characters of Captain Christopher Pike, Mr. Spock, and Number One is on the way. It has been reported that Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn will reprise their roles from Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 for the new series, which is titled Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

The show has been given a full season order by the streaming service CBS All Access. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be set a decade before the original Star Trek series and will follow Pike, Spock, and Number One on adventures around the galaxy in the Enterprise. In a statement, CBS All Access head of programming Julie McNamara said, "Fans fell in love with Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Ethan Peck's portrayals of these iconic characters when they were first introduced on Star Trek: Discovery last season. This new series will be a perfect complement to the franchise, bringing a whole new perspective and series of adventures to Star Trek."

There has been much demand for Mount to reprise his role of Pike, ever since Discovery Season 2 finished its run in April 2019. There was a fan petition for him to be given his own show, and in an interview with SyFy Wire last December, Mount suggested that he would love to return to the role. Mount is the fourth actor to play Pike, following Jeffrey Hunter in the original Star Trek pilot, Sean Kenney in the '60s series, and Bruce Greenwood in JJ Abrams' 2009 reboot movie.

I just caught up and watched both seasons of Star Trek Discovery and all I can say is..

Shaniqua Martin Green is fucking awful. She single handled kills every scene she's in.

The series itself is okay, I don't know how I feel about all the guts and gore in Star Trek, it truly takes away from the series.

I respectfully disagree. She is the entire reason why I watch the show.

It's not just her.

I already imagine the title of season 3 . . . Star Trek: Discovery: The Search For More Tears. I've seen more crying on this show than what you'd see on old school 80s soap operas.

But, the blame for all of this shit lies at the feet of J J Fuckin' Abrams.

I say muthafuck J. J. Abrams. Muthafuck J. J.'s mother. Muthafuck J. J's daddy. J.J. can eat a dick. J. J. can lick the balls.

Fucked up ST and SW in a little over a decade all on his own.

Insane hot take. She is the only reason I watch the show, in the midst of all the inter racial homosexuality

ya'll are bugging.. SMG can't act for shit. She always speaks and narrates with the same annoying baritone voice, I can't think of a single cast member she has good chemistry with

idk different strokes for different folks

and yeah, as soon as those homos get on the same screen together I hit the fast forward button with the quickness. I thought Trek would spare us when Culber got his neck snapped, they just had to bring him back :smh:

Yeah, these newer series don't feel like Trek at all, and I notice that simply by starting watching the entire from last November.

The gore porn, constant swearing just takes away from the series for me.. It makes for good sci-fi, just awful Star Trek.

I definitely could do without the LGBQT narrative... I just skip that too. Love my sisters in the lead role though. If they made her sexier that would DOPEaf

Okay. I pretty much love the show and what they've done with it, but it really bothered me how much they had Michael cry the entire season. When the show started, she was so intense and focused. And the character is still that way at times, but they still find a way to make her weepy eyed every single episode. My question for her a ta con would be, "How did you stay hydrated?"

Just the fact that I noticed it means that it happened way more than it should have.

I hear both of y'all on this...I'm somewhere in the middle...Her "character" is really intriguing, but the script has the actress on loop with those rambling-ass speeches...Same babble over and over that adds nothing to the story lines...As a result, I don't know whether homegirl can really act or not...They need to re-tool that role and give her more meaningful shit to say and do that keeps the story moving....My $0.02.

After giving this futher thought, what is missing is script and not her performance. She is carrying a StarTrek series that has numerous flaws that have been mentioned in the above comments. She deserves more respect.

The show has her doing way to much. Whats the point of the rest of the crew if everything always comes down to her.

Again that is my point...she is the show!! No Spock, no Data, No Six of 9....

Seven. Lol.

I agree. Developing all of the major characters is really important as it gives you an enormous amount of stories to tell without getting stale. There have been plenty of episodes in Star Trek where the captain was barely there, whereas in Discovery they have to make every single episode about her.

TOS didn't develop every main character and Kirk was the centerpiece even in someone else's episode, but they had good writers that told memorable stories. Discovery is trying to immulate that since they are in the same time period but failing miserably.
