I think that is something that should be said to kids, it's good to instill that in them so the can make the right moves early in life.
Just to be clear, I'm not saying people shouldn't pursue their dreams/goals, however for grown folks if you are not already on that path I think motivation should be a little more grounded in reality.

Separation should be our first goal and the goal of our kids.

Truth is, what I see in that picture is the PRINCIPLE of, never being satisfied, always be about your grind, and never let anyone or any circumstance be the cause of you not giving 100% effort and steal your passion, i.e. control you.
We can all find excuses or 'reasons' to deflect focus, but ultimately what that leads us to is mediocre living, under-achieving lives and creating generations of whiners and blamers.

I believe you can but you have to get started young enough with grinding to have an exponential advantage over the competition. If Tiger Woods decided he wanted to be a great golfer at 15 versus his Dad introducing it to him at like 3, I don't think he becomes the great he was.
Great example, but I'd have to still disagree. Millions of people worldwide introduce their children to golf at their infancy. My guestimate would be that 99% don't have strong interest and leave the club on the.6th hole. Of those left, out of that million, 2,000 take that skill to high school. 300 are good enough to get scholarships. Twenty make the tour. One becomes the next Tiger Woods.

Talent and hard work (and I mean real god damn hard work, George Gervin was known to take 1,000 shots a day) may be enough to get you to that very good level. Meaning scholarships, a solid business, a career as a doctor.

I dont think the logic here is to be the greatest, but to stay focus and grind your way to achieving your goals in life. When people start adding layers to things, I believe its really a self soothing method to justify why they have underachieved in life really.
