Spider-Man: Homecoming -(discussion thread)

Peter probably getting sick of his friends dropping by

This came off as a solid teen movie where the teen just happens to be Spiderman.

There were points in the movie it had a project X feel to it.

Previous spidey movies had a teen to adult responsibilities theme.

This one had a nice kid trying to be grown but realizing 'hey I am still a kid let me enjoy this.'

Initial thoughts on this movie remain the same simply WOW!
I agree with this Frosty! Pretty much summed it up for me too

Just got back. Movie was damn good, but differernt. It didn't feel like a large scale movie like the Avengers but a bit larger than the Ant-Man. The VULTURE? Was a COMPLETE BAD-ASS! Michael Keaton did the damn thing. (I'm looking for his action figure online).

The movie was comedy all the way.

I give it a 9/10
The Vulture fam...WAS THE SHIT!!:itsawrap:

I didn't fully appreciate him from the trailers. I thought "Ok that's cool they're using the Vulture" and knew Keaton is a great actor and would do his thing, but all that shit went out the window when the movie started!

From him getting shitted on by Damage Control to when he first came back to the hideout in full Vulture gear I was like "Damn, I like this"!

When he pulled out the gun after Liz got out and was pretty much telling Peter "We can handle this like gentleman...or we can get into some gangster shit" people in the theater was clapping!

Michael Keaton was a great villain as the vulture. When he opened the door I was like oh shit! Thought it was a kid napping for a second.

I like how he figures things out and I like the angle of Spider-Man as kid. Not super heavy with the uncle dying as per origin and shit just like wanting to have fun and then realizing if I keep doing this shit gets real at some point. I thought it was really good.

Yeah, pretty good movie, I have no real complaints. The whole "adolescent" Peter Parker acting was on point, and true to the old comics when he became Spiderman at 15.

Wanna appreciate homecoming even MOAR?!?

Check out this video (Rob did this 2 weeks before homecoming opens)

My gawd the themes and concepts they managed to mesh together

:bravo::cheers::wepraise:

Best Spiderman movie ever and arguably one of the best MCU superhero movies.

They captured the essence of Spidey and I love the retcons of Flash and MJ. Flash being a jock physically picking on kids doesn't fit today's society. Him being a puny rich douchebag made him the most hateable and I loved it.

Bravo marvel!!

Movie nailed it in every way. Winter Soldier had been the number one marvel movie thus far but this is definitely nipping on its heels. The comedy was good, the action was good, and having him being places where there weren't any buildings to swing from really put an emphasis on "your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." I also liked the subtle nods to the OG tobey movies, with the upside down kiss and then the vultures unmanned suit almost hitting spidey. I like how they took chances and switched up the cast, big time. Flash being a spoil rich kid fits more than some dumb jock bullying nerds. MJ being a kinda bummy outsider was different, but still cool to see. Plus she can always have that growing up moment that girls tend to have where you see them one day and it's like DAMN all that sexy was underneath them clothes??? So yah i like the direction they took the franchise. And the acting when Pete rolled up to that house and saw pops....GREAT PERFORMANCE. Pops pulling the heat....GREAT PERFORMANCE.

My only complaint, and this is minute, was the porn reference in the library because it was too obvi that line was coming, and the final battle scene could have been lit a bit better it looked a bit bootleg cam-ish under the night's sky and those reflective panels....

Other than that, movie is a complete KNOCKOUT

I don't know. That means that this version of Flash was never a threat to Peter. Parker probably could whip his ass with no spider powers. He only gets on Peter's nerves. He could be simply ignored. The girls were choosing Peter, this Flash was only a troll.

Bro Flash is 15 pushing a drop top Audi to school on the daily...

He gonna get chose

Yall got me busy. I still got a album, two parties, and 48 hours of no sleep and stress to iron out...

Most of yall seem to have watched it. I don't know if we doing spoilers but I'll try not to go there. More so cause a lot of yall said shit I was going to touch on anyway.

The music was awesome. Knowing what had to happen for Spider man to get that 'Marvel Studios' intro at the beginning that orchestral piece of the theme was making me tear up a little...
I'll have to agree, I was NOT expecting that when the door opened. I mean looking back yeah, chick is the only one with this house...Peter going through folks back yards and no one got a house like this. But that shit shocked me.
I am glad Bokeem is getting some play! One of my most memorable 90's Black actors (you seen him around, a lot, ya know?) and after Fargo I know this dude can really act. I hope when they bring him back we get some more on his growing animosity to give him more of a purpose other than going along with Adrian.
The first encounter with Vulture, when he dropped Peter, he made a 'sign' in the moon. I saw that.
I need to find a clip of the ending credits. Not the scenes...the actual credits. I swear they was teasing Venom.
Almost positive I saw Felicia.
The trailers showed a lot but they are very deceiving. Don't think you saw the whole movie just cause you watched a few trailers. It's so much better than that.
Favorite scene? When the car stops and the music starts playing...and that red light on his face...that was awesome. The fear and anger from that backseat. That was great.

I loved it. This movie was great, awesome, everything that's a synonym that you can add to it.
This was Peter loving Peter. Yeah they went Iron Man 3 on us, but it was great. The characters, the acting, the places...if everyone was complaining Power Rangers needed more of them in school, this was what you was looking for. Glover with that eye though...that's one thing I have to commend, that because of his ties to SM, they didn't make him a "villain". That wold have been too much, but it was just enough...to go with the ice cream. There was a lot of easter eggs in this thing, and they weren't hitting you over the head, (though I did think it was nice that Happy been holding on to that since 2008), but it's enough here for everyone. I went with some folks who could care less about comics, Marvel - that world, and it was still enjoyed. And I want to see it again. I don't do that. I can watch a movie and wait until I see it again, but I wouldn't be mad if I went back. I feel like there is still something left to appreciate and pick up. I don't want to rank it...I really don't...because I don't know where to put it. I don't know if Pascal is going to be an idiot (when did her name start showing up as a production company?) and Sony is going to be assholes and do the rest of these right with Marvel. I don't know. But as a movie, it's awesome. (I swear I feel like there was a fourth villain dropped in there somewhere.)

I really need to find a vid of the ending credits.

Just got back from seeing it. I enjoyed it, but thought there were some parts that kind of dragged out (warehouse scene). The twists were great (vulture being her dad and MJ). Zendaya was funny in the little screen time she had. Not sure i would put it top 5 (Civil War, Winter Soldier, Iron Man 1, Ant-Man, Hulk (ed norton) and Avengers were all better, IMO). Loved the diversity of the cast, and it felt like there were no plot holes at all. I also love the fact that this was not an origin story (cough...every batman movie).

Good set up for the second movie with Scorpion.

Final fight could have been a little better, but i understand he is still just a kid so his combat skills are not at that level yet.
Good movie though, i'd watch again.

Just back from seeing it. Good movie but didn't thrill me like the other Marvel movies.

Great Movie....the best Spider-Man period.
i don't know, i still kind of think the one with Doc Oc was pretty damn good, probably because he played such a great Otto, and he is that one villain that when you think of spiderman, you think of Doc Ock, kind of like Batman and Joker. But i wouldn't argue with anyone that said this was the best of all of them.

Porn joke didn't bother but I was surprised they were playing Fuck Kill Marry game. Was not needed or funny!

Still great movie

yeah, that was awkward, especially coming from kids. notice, the boy was feminine.

a Venom character without Spiderman?
in a dark story with no origin, no cinematic setup in another flick or a non Spiderman origin?

That shit won't make Ghostbusters money

even make '

hell - it won't even do Pixels' money

worse yet next year is Black Panther, Avengers and Ant Man, followed in 18 by Capt Marvel and Spidey again - never mind Star Wars movies, Avatar, Deadpool, and whatever bullshit Fox pulls out its ass

Sony has to make 2 good movies and find away to punch through the traffic to market them

There's am internet rumor that the movie Life (not the Eddie and Martin movie) is the setup for Venom. It actually makes the movie more enjoyable, if you watch it with that mindset.

i fell asleep on that. I'll try to watch it again. But that would be a dumb rumor because Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool.
