Where is a good place to have a PC Built?

I want a PC built with 3 or 4 bays for DVD drives and quality components and memory inside.

Should I go to a place like Best Buy or are there other places that will do a better job at a good price?

If you can't build it yourself , Dell would be the cheapest option but not as cheap as DIY

Man, just go out to Microcenter in Mayfield and let them straighten you out. They'll build what you want for you. I take it you don't want to go through building it yourself, which can be a hassle for some people. That's understandable.

Ive used Tigerdirect.com to build several pc's for myself and others

i've replaced DVD drives and added memory but i've never done anything else in a computer.

i've been fixing and building shit all my life and i'm gonna give it a try.

i'll give it a try over the holidays.

If you can do these things, just build it yourself.

A YouTube video or an old computer system can be your guide. You'll be alright
 
Whether you do it yourself (not hard and LOTS of vids and books to help) or not, I'd suggest you start with a SSD for your C drive and use a separate case and RAID for your other drives. In this digital age, storage space gets eaten up very quickly and 10 or 20T is nothing. Minus whale start as you mean to go on.

There's plenty of YouTube videos on how to build a PC.
I did it myself a couple years back.
It's really not as hard as it seems.
Pick up all your parts from Newegg.com or go to Micro Center, if there is one in your area.
 
microcenter is a great place to go and their sales can be good but do a lil research on prices before you totally commit to anything and will be ok
also if if you let us know your general budget and what the PC will be used for eg: (gaming/work/ video editing) most here can put together a solid parts list to suit your needs.

I'm going to go with plenty of storage and plenty of RAM!

microcenter is the best tech store ever. too bad they don't have any in memphis. i miss being able to just go and grab any random pc part without waiting for it to be shipped.
 
build it yourself. If you do, be careful when doing the processor and adding the fan on top. Also, not sure what OS you are going with, or if this has been changed (been about 4 or 5 years since i've used Windows), but if you plan on going with Windows, only connect the HD or SSD that you want it installed on. After its installed, then connect your other HDs or SSds.
 
Hit the afterdawn forums and learn how to build one yourself. You save a ton of money and gain experience with your build. I have never purchased an out of the box pc. Everything built from the ground up and I'll never do it any other way.

i happen to burn quite a few CDs/DVDs from time to time.

what's so retro about wanting to have several burners in your PC? :dunno:

It's kinda oldschool, if you want to watch movies you could just stream them to a device like the roku and for CDs you can use your phone unless you have a older car with a old radio, but you can always upgrade your radio to one with Usb and Bluetooth for about $50

I checked the microcenter in BK and they really helpful but not sure about prices.

I wanted to build a PC under $500

for primarily home use/family/school work/office work

basic web surfing/watching streaming/downloading/burning cds & dvds

You can easy lily build a pc for all that for the price. Peep the links I posted earlier, they are two recent builds even save more money if you don't want the gaming video card. Links to the parts are in the video description

i don't watch a lot of movies.

i don't listen to CDs either. i listen to music in my truck via thumb drives in flac and other lossless formats.

i do have family and friends for whom i make mix CDs and DVDs for from time to time.

...free of charge, of course. :shades:

If you're putting in 3-4 dvd drives for burning disks, then you should be building a duplicator- not a pc.
Trust me, it's cheaper and easier to build one of each than to construct a pc that can reliably burn more than 2 discs simultaneously.
 
You can build your own PC. You can read so you can do it. I've been building my own since 1996. With online companies like Tiger Direct, Microcenter and yeah Amazon you can build it just like you want it. I'm building a new system myself.

However if you insist upon having one built ask around but don't go to Best Buy. See if one of the companies (not Amazon) I listed above has a location near you. They would be able to help you.

It's your machine build it like you want to.

What's a PC? :roflmao:

Everything that has some kind of multi-user implementation or microprocessor is a PC.
If it's not a server, it's a PC.

if you dont want to build it yourself there's websites that will build it for you. check out ibuypower.com or cyberpowerpc.com. both will allow you to pick each component and show you your price as you select them. i got lazy on my last build and used ibuypower. they did a good job but imma stop being lazy on my next build and do it myself again.
