If you follow JR Smith on social media then you probably saw him taking shots at his previous team, the New York Knicks, for trading him and Iman Shumpert to Cleveland. Phil Jackson took to Twitter and addresses JR and his recent posts. Click more to check out the tweets!

In recent weeks, JR Smith was seen on Twitter and Instagram taking some shots at his old squad back in New York. In a post, Smith agreed with a meme that depicted “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” and in the picture, it showed both him and Iman in their old Knicks attire and then it showed them smiling happily in their new Cavs attire.

JR’s caption on his post was, “couldn’t have said it better myself @i_am_iman,” and it seems that he was saying that their talent was not appreciated in New York. That move from New York to Cleveland was definitely a move that changed his life because, now more than ever, JR and Iman have an opportunity to actually go to the NBA Finals and come out victorious.

Phil Jackson took to Twitter to address the comments that JR made and he expressed that the Knicks organization is happy for ex-Knicks players that are currently in the playoffs. Phil Jackson tweeted, “…we are glad for JR, Shump, Pablo, etc…players have comfort zones that they need to play their best…we want them to find that in NBA.” It definitely seems that he was saying JR and Iman were not good fits in New York and they had to let them go. I guess with Phil’s plan of the triangle being initiated into play, their roles would not let that system flourish?

The Knicks recently received the 4th overall pick in the NBA draft and were not satisfied with that pick. They finished this past season with 17 total wins out of 82 so it seems that the intentional tanking was for nothing at all. That Knicks curse just won’t give up. I’m definitely interested to see how Phil Jackson, Carmelo Anthony, Derek Fisher, and the entire Knicks organization bounces back from such an upsetting year.

Lebron saved them niggas

And the Knicks :smh:

Damn man tanked and still only #4 pick

David Stern wouldn't have allowed this

im just waiting till Van says its over.

He gave Phil a timetable so I'm going with that

Its looking like Phil Jackson is a fucking fraud.

Kinda make sense he never built a team he kinda just Steve Kerr'd his way to stacked squads

Phil is a great coach. He's just not a GM.

Doc Rivers the same way. I'd hire Doc in a second to be a coach. I'm not hiring him to run my team though. Same goes for Phil.

There's a certain art and job you have to do to be a GM and these guys take it for granted. You don't expect a GM to coach so why expect a coach to be a GM?

I knew Phil wouldn't do shit. Its bigger than Phil in NY. NY has a losing culture that won't change until they decide to officially rebuild. Clean up the toxic from within the organization.

How can Tyson Chandler, Prigioni, JR, Shumpert, etc. have success prior to the Knicks and soon right after? They have a losing culture.

Please...Jr and shump played OK for the Knicks but they couldn't handle being the 2nd or third options. On the cavs if they have a bad game it doesn't matter. This has nothing to do with melo. Shump is a career 7ppg scorer. Let's not get crazy

Knicks are better off without them and the cap space they provide.if Phil was a dick he could have traded them to Minnesota. They should be thanking him

I wish people would stop with this mess.

When melo was healthy these same dudes were in the playoffs

remember melo was hurt last year AND this year and these are the 2 years the knicks been out of the playoffs?

when he was healthy the knicks who hadn't been were in the playoffs remember?

This is not to say Melo is as good as lebron but people are painting a picture that didn't happen.

When Melo was healthy the knicks went to the playoffs period.

They hadn't been to the playoffs since 04 before he got there.

They lost to the celtics with kg pierce rondo and allen the last good year they were together

Lost to the heat with 3 of the top 5 draft picks in the same class together

Beat the celtics and then lost to the pacers where melo was the only player to actually show up....on the team with shump and JR smith...

So yea lebron taking this team to the finals potentially is an incredible feat.

but let's not act like melo being hurt these past 2 years isn't THE reason the knicks haven't made the playoffs...

they made it with old journeyman and wack role players with melo didn't they?

they went to the playoffs while ON THE KNICKS

they went to the 2nd round while on the knicks

that's what im not understanding

Melo hurt= no playoffs and lottery for the knicks

Melo healthy = playoff spot for the knicks with these same people.. its proven as fact

Was Melo healthy last season? Because i seem to remember him having "these same people", playing 80 games, and missing the fucking postseason then too.

all this shows is that shumpert and jr smith are permanent role players and not stars...

just like reggie jackson proved and serge ibaka proved when the stars went down and it was their chance to shine and the team shit in the bed.

Shit JR was the #2 recently it seems.

Knicks are better off without them and the cap space they provide.if Phil was a dick he could have traded them to Minnesota. They should be thanking him

Man JR Smith and Shumpert make a collective 7 -8 million a year. With that type of money you'll fuck around and get a Danny Green type nigga or some shit.

Knicks had JR and Shumpert on rather friendly deals compared to some of them other dudes on the roster like Jose Calderon.

i don't believe he was really healthy but if he played he played.

80 games they missed the post season.

this year he didn't and jr smith and shump did what to help the team win?

nothing.

and let's erase the years before that when he was fully healthy and led them to the playoffs right?

you don't have to like melo, i know you really hate him but this is real.

Melo was healthy last year and they won 37 games though.

If 3time champ D Wade doesnt get injury excuses, his ringless draft class mate shouldnt. Melo being drafted the same year as LeBron was the worst thing for him. He never had the expectations of a #1 pick. He could always hide behind LeBron and people would hype him as bein just as good without havin to show it. Look at Dwight, look at Bogut, when theyve come up short theyve been ripped. Thats what comes wit being a #1 pick. Melo is 31 wit a 125 mill max contract, no excuses. And now its too late. The league has new younger players to promote. Cats was mad he made the all star team last year. :smh: Melo is a HOF scorer but not a guy you can build a team around. If he gets a ring it'll be as a 2nd or 3rd option.

Melo was healthy last year and they won 37 games though.

yup.

but that means that they hadn't been to the playoffs the years before when he arrived right? he just got there. they won 37 games and now in the lottery

that's what happened while he shump and jr were on the same team nothing else.

just like reggie jackson proved and serge ibaka proved when the stars went down and it was their chance to shine and the team shit in the bed.

We knew that though. Who thought JR and Shumpert were stars? All you need is one or 2 stars on your team to contend. You need guys like JR who can hit big shots and Shumpert who can defend.

Look at the Rockets. Rockets have nobody worth a damn who can shoot the open jumper and guard Steph.

I don't get what you're saying? You saying Shump and JR was why they won 37 games?

i am saying with a competent team melo took them to the playoffs where they lost to teams with flat out better players than the knicks. that's what im saying

we're talking about melo couldn't win with shumper and jr smith when he was going up against lebron wade and bosh

and kg pierce rondo and allen and shit

I don't get what you're saying? You saying Shump and JR was why they won 37 games?

No im not saying that.

Im saying the overall team wasn't good so they won 37 games.

we're acting like kevin love and kyrie irving weren't healthy during the season lol.

they're banged up NOW

during the season kyrie was cooking and love was solid on top of jr smith and shumpert

in the playoffs boston wasn't shit

the bulls ain't shit

and the hawks ain't shit

these aren't all time great teams they're beating. that's just real. but you play who you have in front of you.

the same thing goes for the warriors

they beat a game but not ready pelicans

beat a memphis team who can't score

and are beating a flawed rockets team.

I agree with this. It's not an indictment on Melo at all. Bron and Melo have different games for starters, but what you just said is the biggest reason. People just hate Melo for whatever reason and find anyway to throw shit his way. Melo isn't the reason the Knicks are the Knicks. They wernt shit for a long time before he got there. Melo didnt fall off until he went to NYC.

why doesn't wade get an injury excuse?:confused:

this season chris bosh barely went down for the season and that's why they're not in the playoffs

No im not saying that.

Im saying the overall team wasn't good so they won 37 games.

Fam he played 77 games in the 2013-2014 season and they won 37 games and missed the playoffs

In the LEASTERN CONFERENCE that's unforgivable no matter what he had done the years prior

Let's say the Warriors go out next season and win 35 games with Curry playing in most of them and they miss the playoffs

He would get roasted as he should

Or any other "franchise" player

If I were Phil I wouldn't even had responded to the situation other than some people are better fits in other organizations and more power to them... A good example is Wiggins were people start projecting how good he would have been coming off the bench for the Cavs, but they fail to understand that perhaps he would not have been that good if he was forced to come off the bench while playing in meaningful games on a winning team..

But the East never really has any all-time great teams. To keep it 100....this was probably one of the better years from he East. It was always the Heat and that's it. Hawks, Wiz, Chicago were all a lot better this year than in previous years.

We can't escape the fact that Melo was a part of a 37 win team last year and this year if healthy it was gonna be a 37 win team AGAIN if not worse.

See bills, we both have guys we like. The difference between us tho is that you make excuses for yours.

You have the audacity to ask what JR and Shump did with him? They are role players.. Stats say they actually did MORE there than with Bron. Its just that Bron is a FAR superior player and leader.

The fucking guy missed the playoffs in the fucking east TWICE in his prime. The one year you can account to injury is the same year he sat before the all star, played in the all star, and then shut it down for the season. Hes a MAX player.

I dont wanna hear shit about the guy. When i was saying it was a horrible idea for NY to max him guys were saying it wasnt. As of today, his deal is an unmitigated failure. Period.

Look bro, the comment i replied to from you implies that he only missed the postseason when hurt and when healthy that make it. You ended it with "fact". It was fiction. Period.

Right. And that's the thing. NO franchise player winning 35 games. Shit man the NBA has it to where that shit can't even happen I don't even know how the fuck Melo did it. With all the favorable calls superstars get.......you have no excuse to atleast not be a .500 team and in the East you should be in the post season.

James Harden ain't never gonna have no 37 game win season. Healthy, KD or Westbrook not. Bron not. Steph not. Shit Anthony Davis won't again.

We can't defend no 37 win shit man not in the East. I can see if you was in the West.....but even Melo in his prime was getting Denver past that shit.

:lol::lol::lol:

shit is gonna be crazy if shump and jr get a chip before melo and Lebrons third lmao!!!

Its nothing against Melo though but he ain't never getting no ring unless he tags a long for one like Gary Payton and a few other stars did.

He's not getting a ring as the main option on a team.

Just won't happen. He's gonna be Ewing and Barkley. Shit it happens. He sealed his fate when he re-upped with the Knicks.
