TV: TNT, Fox Sports Ohio

1. This is a game teams circle when the schedule is released. Many of the players will say it's just another game. Just so you know, that's total bunk. This is a possible preview of the NBA Finals in June. Both teams are that good. The Warriors are off to one of their best starts in franchise history. They have the best record in the NBA. The Cavaliers are the hottest team in the NBA, having won 17 of their last 19. There are star players throughout both teams' rosters.

2. The Warriors' starting backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson - the so-called Splash Brothers - is the league's best. Not many guard tandems even come close. They are on pace to be the first Golden State guards to average at least 20 points a game since Monta Ellis and Baron Davis in 2007-08. It hasn't happened in the NBA since New Jersey's Devin Harris and Vince Carter did it in 2008-09. It's almost debatable which one shoots the ball better from the perimeter. Trying to slow down this pair will be the focal point of the Cavaliers' defense. Keeping them in check will likely be the key to the game.

3. The Cavaliers have figured things out at The Q. They've won 10 games in a row at home. They haven't lost at The Q since Jan. 7 vs. Houston. They will have to play with energy tonight in the nationally televised game on TNT.

4. It all starts with forward LeBron James, who directs the flow for the Cavaliers. He's playing at an MVP level right now. However, he can't commit nine turnovers in tonight's game like he did against Detroit. The Warriors are just too good. They are not only talented, but they are deep. Two former Cavs play key roles off the bench in guard Shaun Livingston and center Marreese Speights. Golden State is also well-coached by Steve Kerr.

5. The Cavs dropped a 112-94 decision at Golden State on Jan. 9. Thompson was outstanding in that game with a game-high 24 points. Of course, James didn't play in that contest. He was still on his two-week sabbatical when he was resting his sore back and left knee.

6. The Warriors have won the last four meetings with the Cavs at The Q. In addition, they have won seven of the last eight outings vs. the Cavs. Think this is going to be easy? Think again.

7. Kerr played three-plus seasons with the Cavs from 1989-92. When he left, he was the franchise leader in 3-point percentage at 47.2. Also, one of Kerr's assistants, Luke Walton, played the last 1 1/2 seasons of his career in Cleveland in 2012 and 2013.

8. The Warriors on in the midst of playing 10 of 11 games on the road. They are 1-1 on their current trip. Of course, they are a league-best 20-8 away from home this season. They are also 17-3 vs. the Eastern Conference this season.

9. Cavs forward Shawn Marion (strained hip) will be out for at least two weeks. He was having trouble finding minutes in Coach David Blatt's rotation any way. His absence has paved the way for more playing time for swingman James Jones. We'll see if newly acquired center Kendrick Perkins will be inserted into the rotation. He only played Tuesday in Detroit because starter Timofey Mozgov got in foul trouble.

10. In three games following the All-Star break, the Cavs have won by an average of 22 points per game. They have a point differential of +12.3 in their last 19 games, first in the NBA.

Warriors, Cavs current title favorites

The Golden State Warriors are the Las Vegas favorites to win the NBA championship, but LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers still have the sportsbooks' attention.

Heading into the final two months of the regular season, more money has been bet on the Warriors to win the title than any other team at William Hill's sportsbook in Nevada, where Golden State is listed at plus-240, or 12-5. The Cavaliers are next at 3-1, followed by the San Antonio Spurs (13-2) and the Atlanta Hawks (7-1).

nba_g_curry11_300x200.jpg

Garrett Ellwood/NBAE/Getty ImagesThe Warriors won their only matchup this season against the Cavaliers in a game that LeBron James missed due to injury. Golden State and Cleveland are the current Las Vegas favorites to win the NBA championship.

In June, when the books began putting up odds to win the 2015 championship, the Cavaliers were listed as high as 60-1. Soon after, rumors of James' interest in returning to Cleveland surfaced, and bets started to come in on the Cavaliers. The MGM took a $1,000 bet on the Cavs when they were 40-1 before James' decision to leave the Miami Heat and head back to Cleveland. After his return was made official, the Cavs were anointed the favorites to win the title, leaving the books with some liability.

Despite an uneven start -- Cleveland was 19-20 after a loss to Phoenix on Jan. 19 -- the Cavaliers remained near the top of the championship odds. At 7-2, Cleveland remains the favorite at the Westgate SuperBook, listed just ahead of the Warriors at 4-1.

The majority of books have Golden State as the favorite, though, including the MGM, CG Technology and William Hill. The Warriors opened at 15-1 at William Hill. Fourteen percent of money wagered on William Hill's NBA futures pool is on Golden State, according to numbers provided by the book. The defending champion Spurs have attracted 12 percent of the action, followed by the Cavs at 11 percent.

The Warriors were 13.5-point home favorites when they knocked off a Cleveland team without James, 112-94. on Jan. 9. The two favorites meet for the last time in the regular season Feb. 26 in Cleveland.

A handful of teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers, have been eliminated from contention on the SuperBook's title odds, but not before some bettors were able to take a chance on the ultimate fliers. The SuperBook took seven bets on the Sixers to win the championship at odds of 1,000-1 and greater. Nineteen bettors took a stab on the Knicks winning it all. They opened around 40-1, but were listed at 9,999-1 by Jan. 1.

There were 66 bets on the Lakers to win the championship at the SuperBook before they were removed from consideration. Only five teams have received more bets than the Lakers, who have attracted more championship wagers than the Los Angeles Clippers, according to SuperBook assistant manager and head NBA oddsmaker Jeff Sherman.

The lowly Knicks (10-44) are the only team guaranteed not to reach their projected season win total in Vegas. The over/under on the Knicks' wins was set at 40 in October at the SuperBook.

The surprising Milwaukee Bucks (30-23) were the only team to eclipse their season win total by the All-Star break. The SuperBook had the Bucks' win total at 24.5.

The Hawks, owners of the best record in the Eastern Conference and the best record against the spread (36-17 ATS), matched their win total projection of 43 at the All-Star break.

The Denver Nuggets, at 20-30-3 against the spread, were the worst bet before the All-Star break.

Good looking out. I'll be looking forward to it.

Re: Golden State Warrior vs Cleveland Cavs on TNT @ 8pm(Finals preview??? Vegas think

This is going to be a tough match up for the warriors, due to them not having a single player that commands double teaming while the Cavs have one that often calls for triple teaming.. Even if the splash combine for 55 how are they going to stop James and Irving from scoring the same while preventing their other players from feasting with so much attention spent on James and Irving.. One thing about jump shooters you can play them strait up and as long as you have good footwork and length you should be good, with drivers such as James and LeBron all the footwork and length is not going to allow you to stop them one on one..
Plus who ever wins the rebounding edge should win the game..

Curry don't command a double team? Fam :smh:

Curry don't command a double team? Fam :smh:

He is a primary jump shooter, if he drives to the lane you collapse on him like a regular player... But as far a double teaming a jump shooter, what is that supposed to do?

Re: Golden State Warrior vs Cleveland Cavs on TNT @ 8pm(Finals preview??? Vegas think

Note this, the difference between James and Curry/Harden is that they all can score 30 any night but Curry and Harden would have a hard time one on one vs a good defender, while James can easily do it vs constant double and triple team help plus a very good defender this allows the JR and the Shumperts to kill you..

Regular Season

Golden State ain't playin like this in the playoffs

Re: Golden State Warrior vs Cleveland Cavs on TNT @ 8pm(Finals preview??? Vegas think

Road your correct about them jumper shooters...but the Cavs are very much a jump shooting team also....well in their defeats

That take what the defense gives you approach bites them in the ass when them jumpers are off.

Some games they take 30 3's....but under 20 ft's fuck outta here!!!

The difference is they get their spacing from their abillity to take their defender off the dribble and attack the rim.. Sure Curry can attack the rim but you can't count on him to beat the big men the Cavs have protecting the paint and once Curry attacks the paint, their best outside shooter is out of the mix.. Once James attacks the paint he still has his best shooters on the wing if he decides to kick it out..

Re: Golden State Warrior vs Cleveland Cavs on TNT @ 8pm(Finals preview??? Vegas think

The key to beating G.S. is to make them one dimensional, turn them into a jump shooting team, while winning the battle on the boards, then you have to make them pay for their misses while matching the splash brothers scoring with your stars, effectively neutralizing them.
The keys to beating the Cavs is that you have to force them to turn over the ball and capitalize off of their turnovers, while not turning over the ball yourself.. Then you must protect your paint, and not allow them to beat you with 2nd chance points. And if you can somehow turn James and Irving into jump shooters then your odds are vastly improved..

Re: Golden State Warrior vs Cleveland Cavs on TNT @ 8pm(Finals preview??? Vegas think

A great example of the difference between jump shooting teams vs jump shooting teams with penetration is the 2013 Spurs finals squad vs 2014 Spurs finals squad...

-Danny Green drove to that hoop...
-Leonard shoot with no hesitation, drove instantly...
-Diaw drove, spotted up, didn't whatever...

All of these were often missing the year before...

With this Cavs team, I would like to see JR attack more, not just for the jumper but go attempt to dunk on a fool.
Same for Lebron(but this something we been wanting to see for a while)
*I must say he did drive and dunk with two defender near him this year, but this is surprisingly rare.

Re: Golden State Warrior vs Cleveland Cavs on TNT @ 8pm(Finals preview??? Vegas think

Where are you faggots who always shit on GS?

The problem with the Heat last year is that their guards played with dead legs allowing too much dribble penetration exposing their two biggest weakness lack of rim protection and poor rebounding.. The key to any good defense are your guards and their ability to prevent dribble penetration, in this game I give Irving, Shumpert and Irving (and occasional James) a huge advantage vs the the dribble penetration of the splash brothers as opposed to them trying to stop James and Irving..
As far as JR game, let him stick to catch and shoot, trust me you don't want that guy being too busy on the offense..
I think both teams have a wild cards up their sleeves with the Cavs its Love, if he gets busy and has a productive game, they are almost impossible to stop and with the warriors its Iguodala, I don't know but against bigger physical teams he becomes a bigger factor and his play often is the determining factor..

Re: Golden State Warrior vs Cleveland Cavs on TNT @ 8pm(Finals preview??? Vegas think

whoa there buddy...let's start proofreading our posts from now on

But to the game, this is a true test for the Cavs. If they shit the bed, it tells a lot. If they beat GS, it says something about this new-look team.

Kerr said he ain't resting shit for this game, so both teams are up.

Regular Season

Golden State ain't playin like this in the playoffs

exactly. neither of them is going to the finals
the east is really a toss up

Re: Golden State Warrior vs Cleveland Cavs on TNT @ 8pm(Finals preview??? Vegas think

uhhhhh
so who is the run away in the east?

Put it this way, if you throw away all those games in the beginning of the season, because that was a totally different Cavs team, they have litrally blown away just about every team for almost 20pts, only games less, was the two losses and the games they empty their bench in the fourth after usually being up by over 25..
