~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - The Miami Heat wins!

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 3 - Miami 2) ~~

who was the last team to leave their home court up 3-2 and lose the finals?? i recall my knicks being up 3-2 vs the rockets in 94 and losing

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 3 - Miami 2) ~~

Definitely last night was all about effort for the Heat. Total difference between game 4 and 5.

.

Man..even the effort by Green to stop Lebron and Wade on back to back plays. Those should have been two dunks and they both came up empty because of Green challenging the shot.

Doesn't happen much...dont get that many game 7s. Your knicks were the last to do it. Pistons did in 1988... Zeke couldnt play because of the ankle and fucking James worthy had the only triple double of his entire career in game 7 :angry::angry:

naw..they only won the first 2. They never won 3 games. I think he's referring specifically to teams that were up 3-2 with two road games remaining to end the series. At least that I was I think he is referring to

Payton vs. Jordan

Payton is also considered one of the best defensive opponents of Michael Jordan, and the two players had a high-profile rivalry that culminated in the 1996 NBA Finals. Jordan and Payton are the only two guards to have won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award since 1988, and despite their different positions (shooting guard and point guard respectively), they were well matched for other reasons. Both were prodigious "trash talkers" (Larry Johnson once named Payton, Jordan and himself the best three trash talkers in the league), had legendary competitiveness, and as the 1997 NBA Preview magazine stated, "Payton [was] quick, and strong as an ox", making him the kind of player who could frustrate Jordan defensively. Payton, at 6'4" and with a tough physique, was one of a handful of point guards with the size and body type to guard Jordan.

Midway through the 1996 NBA Finals, Seattle coach George Karl made the decision to assign Payton to play defense as a shooting guard instead of his normal point guard assignment in order to defend Jordan. Though the Bulls won the series, Seattle's (and especially Payton's) defense held Jordan and the Bulls to their lowest offensive output in an NBA finals and "frustrated the best player in the game." In his first three NBA Finals, Jordan averaged 36.3 points per game and had scored at least 30 points in 14 of his 17 games. However, in the 1996 Finals, Jordan averaged 27.3 points per game and scored more than 30 points in only 1 of the 6 games.
In a game 5 preview after Payton had held Jordan to a career NBA Finals low of 23, an NBA pregame show described the rivalry of two strong defensive players renowned for their competitiveness.

"[In Game 4, Jordan had his] lowest output in a Finals game, much of it with Payton guarding him. Though afterwards, Jordan refused to give Payton credit, saying 'No one can stop me, I can only stop myself. I missed some easy shots.' The truth is, Jordan finds the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year [Payton] annoying. He views the [young Payton] as impudent, and he would love to have a big game at [Payton's] expense." (NBA on NBC Preview, Game 5)

The Sonics won that game by 21 points and Payton held Jordan to 26 points – Jordan's second-lowest-scoring Finals game in his career up to that point. In game 6, which the Bulls would win to capture the Championship, Payton played 47 minutes and Jordan missed 14 of his 19 shots, getting a career Finals low 22 points.[22] By the end of the series, Michael Jordan had been held under 30 points in 5 of the 6 games, including his three lowest-scoring Finals games up to that point (26 in Game 5, 23 in Game 4, 22 in Game 6). Bill Walton, commentating for NBC at the time, said Payton "outplayed" Jordan during the second half of the series, and that Seattle coach George Karl would "rue" the decision to "hide [Payton] from 'the king'" in the early games of the series. During this series, Payton and his Sonics also held Jordan's Bulls to the lowest-scoring quarter in their NBA Finals history. Michael Jordan would never score fewer points in an NBA Finals game than his 22 points in game 6, and would never be held under 30 points more than twice in a Finals series, which the Sonics did five times

Payton vs. Jordan

Remember this series. GP did a great job and Seattle as a whole played great defense. That was definitely the one series where Jordan really struggled from the field. GP was a damn good defender. Dude was strong, tall for PG, and although not very quick...was an expert in positioning...so he knew how to keep Jordan in front of him and out of his sweet spots.

funny how some people try to frame things.

in this case, the author tried to credit coach karl with the decision, when in fact gary payton had been asking george karl to execute the switch since G1.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 3 - Miami 2) ~~

Haha!

That's right. Kobe AND the Lakers never played San Antonio and put them out. I mean, we're talking PRIME DUNCAN, and Parker...

...but, hey - remember it how you see fit.

Not to mention, you probably shouldn't be calling any other player over-glamorized when your boy is shooting 24% from the field outside of the paint.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Nigga, I had conceded Lebron as 'the best', and now I want to slap myself.

This nigga is straight ass if he can't drive to the basket.

GTFOH.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Not to mention Kobe won a ring against 3 HOF players.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 3 - Miami 2) ~~

Knew the Jordan crap would come up. Let it go.

Green has been killing it. Dtownrep was saying it from game 1, he was missing shots but he would make them.

Now green has supreme confidence

its crazy cause the big 3 for the spurs haven't ALL had a monster game yet...maybe this last game you can count it?

Good luck. :smh:

omfg... man..how many of those were just clean wide open spot up looks :smh::smh::smh:
I told my buddy from Miami this last night and mentioned that the trapping and doubling gives Green those open looks. He said during one timeout last night Spo said "no more trapping on Parker" and Bron walked away and said "man whatever". I didnt see it but he swears by it.

I was just in a meeting browsing BGOL like a mufucka :smh::lol:
Yea man, imma cut back after the finals and try to get ahead on some things.

I wish people would let it go cuz they want it to be one way but it's the other way and need to be corrected if it gets out of hand

And yea I said corrected cuz when it becomes more than just an opinion and you act like you speaking fact somebody will speak on it

As far as the Spurs play they always get these open threes and will always get them

I just don't know if they can hold off the Heats runs at home

Even with the great shooting Miami will cut a lead down quick as fuck

Spurs need to work the offense through Duncan to win this last one

They can't defend him

What has been true and what I've been saying since the pacers series.

If you don't turn the ball over in volume...live turnovers fast break transition offense...or settling for long jumpers with long rebounds that start the break.

then you can beat the heat...especially if you feed it inside.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 3 - Miami 2) ~~

 Heat haven't lost back to back since January, Spurs lost 3 straight in April

ABC showed the graphic & radio here in dallas corrected, they haven't lost back to back with their big 3 playing since December.

1-3??? You are aware this team hasn't lost two games in a row since January. Miami is winning the next two series and will be holding up back to back.

Spurs needed to win game 4 in order to win this series. They didn't.

The series is over.

After game 7 Miami will have won in 2006 2012 and 2013 and likely 2014 as well . That will be what 4 chips for the franchise in total.

I'm not even a Heat fan but what will be will be

The problem with this is that, so let's say the Spurs win game 4...they weren't sweeping at home. No way, so based on what you're saying...taking a 3-2 lead didn't matter either way they did it cause this series was going back to Miami. I just don't buy that. They said the same for my Mavs.

I dont see how you guys can keep saying this after watching this series. If anything we have an established trend that says Miami will win convincingly in game six.

This is the best punch/counterpunch finals i think i've ever seen. Ever game is must see because you dont know wtf to expect from each team.

This will make game 6 very interesting. The Heat moved Bosh in closer & won game 2, moved Miller to the starting lineup & won game 4, the Spurs countered each time & answered. What do they have left in the bag of tricks? Spo has proven he can coach this series. He's made some great adjustments.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 3 - Miami 2) ~~

Maybe I'm crazy but if I'm the Heat I'd make Duncan beat me. He didnt 30/20 Duncan that can lead the whole game.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 3 - Miami 2) ~~

You're not. I would rather say good job old man than to get blazed by Leonard and Green.

But the problem is this. It's not like that requires a schematic change. Green and Leonard aren't getting off because the Heat are doubling down on Duncan and Duncan is just dishing out. Very very of those assists are inside-out passes from Duncan because of double or even help defense.

I think it really just come down to defending the perimeter better...now if Duncan picks up the slack and drops 30 and 20...hey...what are you going do? but shit...It's not like it's a definitive either or at this point.. the heat just need to defend the perimeter better..period. Wade, Lebron, and Allen were on Green on 90 percent of those threes... probably 40 percent of them on Wade....they've just got to defend...at this point... it's like even a pick your poison situation. Heat defender have to stop getting caught sagging in the paint... wade and lebron are just sleeping on defense...not committing to the double-team or help defense (which would be unnecessary) and not staying on their man.

The loss aside, you want what you had in game 1... parker and duncan carrying the load... and althought green and leonard got open looks.. they got much fewer than in the rest of the series

I said this before game 1.....let the post players play 1 on 1 defense....fuck it....I know I wouldn't still be getting killed with threes at this point in the series because of some unnecessary ass rotation out of a double team that is not warranted .....

There were moments in the game when Bron would square up defensively on Green and Green would pass it off and run off screen. 5 seconds go by and you seen Green wide open in the corner for the 3.
