Biggest collapse, flop, bust, underachiever or disappointment in sports history?

Ain't nothing bigger if the Heat don't get to the Finals. Lakers are just old. Their core are all over 30. Most of them past their prime. Heat have Bosh, Wade and Lebron all in their prime and told us they were going to win not one, not two, not three.....well you get the point. You got 3 of the top 20 players in the NBA on the same team along with Ray Allen and you can't beat a Pacers team who's without their 1st or 2nd best player in Danny Granger? Imagine MJ ever losing to the Knicks without Patrick Ewing.

MJ always had great rebounders, there has never been a team to win anything with the Heat type of rebounders... That said if the Heat fail to win, it would have to do more about Wade and Bosh inept play...
You really think the Bulls would have won anything with Pippen putting up the numbers Wade is putting up and Rodman rebounding the way Bosh is.
I think the story will be the down fall of two of the big three..

 Ya'll got #2 by default though. Pacers had injuries, Derrick Rose was hurt and the rest of the East sucks. I mean props to ya'll for atleast stepping in and taking that but its not like ya'll dominated competition. D'antoni is a trash coach but he wasn't holding the Knicks back.

Listen... The games STILL have to be played... AND... we never beat the Bullsand they played well for the most part... so the D.Rose point is moot...

BUT that's not the point...

The point is...When he was in with Knicks... We were barely .500... He left... my bad... HE QUITS!!!... and we IMMEDIATELY played better...

When he official quits( because he quit LONG before he actually left), we went 18-6... and 7-1 with Melo, Amar'e and J.Lin in the starting lineup.

Now... He goes to the Lakers... With Kobe... Pau... Nash... and the BEST BIG IN THE LEAGUE... and they play like SHIT... :smh:

Coincidence???... I don't think so... :smh:

The Atlanta Braves of the 90's may qualify... not for bust or flop, but for underachiever/disappointment. They were a great team, multiple hall of fame pitchers, and were supposed to be the team of the 90's (like 11+ straight division titles), but they only ended up with one world series title.

And none of them are the goat of baseball

Not one of them

That's a lie...

Babe invented the term... GOAT...

Lou was the IRONMAN before Tony Starks nigga...

56 str8 games with a hit is STILL one of the greatest records in SPORTS

AND Not only is Yogi the greatest catcher EVER... NOT BILL RUSSELL has crowded fingers like Yogi..

And I'm not even gonna bring up Mickey... :itsawrap:

In the Chi... it starts... and Stops... with MIKE...

I agree but I don't think MJ would've allowed for Rodman to rebound poorly or for Pippen to play poorly....

And none of them are the goat of baseball

Not one of them

That is a good ass point....

Well what did he do in the Western Conference WITHOUT Amare? He took them to the Western Conference Finals. Trust me you get no argument form me that Mike is a bad coach. But I just don't think he's a bad coach just because he couldn't do shit with the Knicks. That Knicks roster was fucked up as is the Lakers roster. You just can't compile players and put them on the same team and expect them to gel in one offseason. Not to mention they are all past their prime except Dwight.

And how is the point moot about the Bulls? You don't think they would've had a higher ranking had they had Derrick Rose?

Come on, no player could will another player on how to play.. If that were the case the Wizards would have made it to the finals with MJ, just on his will power alone... three things will can't help 1- Age, 2-Injury, and 3- Broken will (often, as in the case of Wade, and players like T-Mac, Vince Carter, Penny and so many others, their wills are broke as the result of injury which prevented them from usint their once athleticism over their opponents..)
In Wades case, he has been supper pussy so far, because instead of modifying his game a little to help the team, he is still dillusinal and thinks the is the superstar he used to be, and still has a sense of entitllement..
Saying the Heat are the biggest bust ever, is fales, saying that Wade is having one of the biggest fall from grace is a much more accurate statement...

How come he couldn't do shit with the Knicks... but Woody could??:dunno:

It's not about where the Knicks finished this past season... It's about what they did as soon as he left...

And past their prime??? The muthafuckas BENCHED Pau almost as soon as he got there... Fucks up the rotation... AND Pau... and then says at the end of the year...' Maybe I should have played Pau and D.Howard together more often'... :hmm:

Granted... The lakers limped into the season with injuries and injuries ultimately did them in... HE... IS... AN... ABSOLUTE... DISGRACE AS A COACH... :smh:

Everybody AIN'T the Phoenix Suns from back in the day... and you have to CHANGE IT UP... The good coaches adjust to their roster... NOT the other way around...

Pat Riley did it with Knicks... Chuck Daly did it with the Pistons... SHIT...even George Karl did it with the Nuggets...

BUT Dumb Toni... :smh:

A little old school for most of you pups, but the '82-'83 Houston Cougars got to be near the top of the list.

The '83 Wolfpack, 4th seed in the ACC, needed a conference tournament victory just to get into the NCAAs. Jim Valvano's team came into the Championship match 8-point underdogs to the #1 ranked Phi Slamma Jamma Cougars, who were celebrating a 94-81 blowout victory in what many considered the "real Championship" against the #2 Louisville Cardinals in the national semifinal. Going into the finals, The University of Houston had compiled a 31-2 record, including a 26-game win streak, beating their opponents by an average 15.6 points in the regular season... and lost to fucking NC State.

500/ 500 club???? Question... What was Barry Bonds' ERA??? What was Willie May's ERA???

Houston Oilers 35
Buffalo Bills 3

beginning of the 3rd quarter

Houston Oilers 38
Buffalo Bills 41

final
That was some epic shit
The Oilers’ run-and-shoot offense was doing plenty of both on January 3, 1993 in a wild-card game against the Bills. Warren Moon was unstoppable in the first half, throwing for 220 yards and 4 TDs. The Bills, meanwhile, were playing without QB Jim Kelly, and were down 28-3 at the half. Things got worse in the third quarter. All-Pro running back Thurman Thomas went down with an injury, then the Oilers returned an interception for a touchdown to make it 35-3 in the third quarter. The game was all but over. But then the Oilers forgot how to play football. After the Bills scored to cut it to 35-10, it was obvious they were going to attempt an onside kick… obvious to everyone besides the Oilers, that is. Houston failed to insert a hands team, the Bills recovered, scored quickly, and suddenly it was 35-17. The collapse was on. A shanked punt, two interceptions, a complete meltdown by the Oilers’ defense, and suddenly the score was 35-31. The Bills had scored 28 points in just under seven minutes. The fourth quarter started with the Oilers clinging to a four-point lead. After a Bills TD, the shell-shocked Oilers forced overtime with a field goal. But in overtime, Steve Christie kicked a 32-yard field goal for the Bills. The Oilers fired their defensive coordinator the next day.

My damn Saints! Not the BIGGEST collapse ever, but one of the biggest for the end of a season

aaronbrooks.jpg

2002 New Orleans Saints

They had a 9-4 record with a two-game lead over the Giants with three games left, and needed to win ONE of their last three to make the playoffs. In Week 14, they took on the 3-10 Vikings, and New Orleans lost at home to the Vikings on a late touchdown to Randy Moss, followed by Mike Tice’s decision to go for a two-point conversion and win it in regulation. No big deal, though, because their next game was against the lowly 1-13 Bengals. Somehow, though, the Saints could only manage 13 points against a defense that surrendered 28.5 ppg and lost again. Their regular season final was at home against a 6-9 Panthers team. They went out with a whimper, falling, 10-6, and missing the playoffs with a 9-7 record.

Come on now

They didn't have relieve pitchers back in those days

Mays n bonds hit against fresh out of bullpen pitchers

Mfz throwing 50 mph in the 7th inning

exactly

how bout the yankees were up 3-0 on Boston to go to the world series only to lose 4-3 to them...

As a yank fan, I was about to write this. We get a little egotistical and Yankee entitlement always comes out big against Boston. So after they we were up 3-1? "Ah, you knew it's wasn't go be a sweep." 3-2? *nervously* "We got a series now!...but they're outta here now."
3-3? *dying on the inside and praying to raptor-Jesus and Optimus prime* "I don't know what's up with that strike zone. This is some bullshit! Doesn't matter. NO team has ever lost after being up 3-0 in a best of seven." 3-4? Hell froze. That humble pie with a side order of crow was fukn disgusting. Next to Reggie scoring 100 in 8 seconds (which I saw as a young teen) and the Houston Oilers blowing that 35-3 lead to buffalo - those were the worse.

 Yessir

Honestly, this was a good baseball argument by shaddy. Little trolling and actual sensible points.

No disrespect but... sensible... and SHADDY... DO NOT BELONG IN THE SAME SENTENCE.... :smh:....:lol::lol:

Here's some Shaddy-isms...

Minus whale... instead of might as well

Raptors... instead of rafters

pictures... instead of pitchers

And greatest of all... the BEATOFF... :lol2:
